We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zsa Zsa C. Hubbard . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zsa Zsa C. below.
Zsa Zsa C. , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
The woman I call hero I also call mom! My mother Kelly Hubbard is my hero because she taught me the value in loving people for real and not for fake! She showed me the power of my femininity and how not to abuse or use it for evil. My mother was a woman of poise and grace despite raising several children with 7 different personalities! My mom was a friend to the friendless and hope to the hopeless. She tried her best to provide people with a positive experience whether it was from her impeccable customer service savvy, incomparable fashion , or simply showing up as a parent advocate & community leader. No matter what her job was or where life lead her she remained faithful to her family and that spoke volumes. I remember growing up and watching how my peers parents treated them and boy was I lucky and blessed. There was time I was jealous of my friends because of what their parents could afford to get them versus my mom but what she taught her children could not be bought at any store because it came from the heart. My mother is my hero because despite all she had been through, despite all the traps and trauma she experienced, she loved without prejudice at that speaks volumes. I pray that I love the way she did and continue the legacy of leadership to my son and his children children one day!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Zsa Zsa C. Hubbard and yes I was named after movie star Zsa Zsa Gabor! I am the eldest of 9 and I am a native of Detroit,Michigan! I graduated from Detroit Public Schools and continued my education at Bowling Green State University! I also graduated with honors from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts, where I fell even more in love with media! I was chosen to be the mistress of ceremony in church and from there I started moderating & speaking in school! I always knew I had a passion for people and wanted to use my voice to empower my community. I became a teenage mom my senior year in high school and I thought my life was over but in fact it had just begun! My son Tayshaun Scott who is named after Detroit Pistons Champion player Tayshaun Prince. Becoming a mother changed my life for the better! I had the opportunity to run for office as a candidate hoping to make a difference in the city of Detroit! I was blessed to be led by my pastor Bishop J. Drew Sheard of 15 years to be under the mentorship of the Wayne County Clerk, in which I was hired me as a Clerk to serve wayne county. The wayne county clerk deputized me to be a wedding officiant and later on I became licensed and started United Vows Officianting Services, where I officiate nuptials of all kind! I also had the honor of being mentored by Dorinda Clark Cole, grammy award winning gospel singer and televangelist, she provided with the opportunity to showcase my talents and skills for her television show Dorinda on TCT Network. She allowed me the opportunity to write scripts, teleprompter, camera operator, guest relations coordinator and so much more! After my mother passed on March 24, 2015 I decided to go into entrepreneurship full-time and start Hubbard Resource Group. My company HRG is a black woman owned and operated entity that provides individuals the blueprint to starting a business or nonprofit organization. During that time I was also raising my siblings and grieving the loss of my mother, from her death I birthed the Kellys Kids Foundation. The Kelly’s Kids foundation is a 501 c3 non profit organization that provides underserved youth who have loss a parent/gaurdian with education, resources and funding. As I continued to volunteer and support my community, I noticed their was no real voice talking about these real life issues so I started a podcast called “Yeah I Said It” with Zsa Zsa without the Gabor! The weekly podcast can be heard on all platforms where podcast are found, social media such as FB & IG, YT “You know Zsa Zsa” and we discuss local & national news, entertainment, resources for the community and education to enrich your personal & business growth! I am currently teaching Public Speaking & Hosting through my (4) program called Public Speaking Academy (P.S.A.), where I teach a monthy cohort for those wishing to become public speaker and those who wish to improve & become more confident in their speaking skills. I also host and moderate events across the country, in hopes that one day I will have my own syndicated TV show entails “ZSA ZSA”!!!
My personality and genuine love separates me from so many people who take advantage of others! My love for what I do despite not getting that love in return fuels me to keep going in life and pursuing my passion.
I am most proud of me for never quitting despite how many times i wanted and all the disappointments along the way!
I help people become their most confident self through personal & business development!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goals & missions that fuel my journey is the ability to help mold, teach and prepare the next generation. As a teenage mom I was afforded the opportunity to have mentors that poured into me whether i wanted it or not! I want to be wha was given to me when I was growing up like Tonya Champion, a woman that had my back despite the new role of motherhood I was facing. She continued to encourage me to fight for my dreams and my sons dreams too. She helped me and my son get into college and so much more. I was honored to get wisdom and knowledge from great men like Dr. Richard T. James who prepared me for my entrepreneurship endeavors. He trusted that I was a young woman who would make wise decisions on behalf of the school store and my personal endeavors throughout adulthood. Lastly I was educated by Dr.Philander Asaka who taught me the value in using my voice, especially in the political field, I was encouraged to launch into the deep for the changes I wished to see and put me in positions to showcase that gift. My goal and mission is to be to other youth who my mentors are to me!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Becoing a mother to my wonderful son Tayshaun is the greatest form of my resilience! Being ostracized and ridiculed by many made me wanna give up on so many occasions. The burden of single parenthood and doing the best I could with what I had has been my greatest honor and accomplishment! Providing my son with a quality education and support system to become a positive person in a negative world. I had no clue what or how we were gonna make it but 20 years later my son is a successful graduate of Class Technical high school, entrepreneur and Community leader. I continued to fight for my dream despite the odds that were stacked up against and now I am one of the most sought after media moguls in detroit michigan. My voice has allowed me to work for our Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, mayor Duggan, Wayne county clerk Cathy M. Garrett, and lead youth ministries for my old and present church Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop J. Drew Sheard & First Lady Karen Clark Sheard.
