We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zorica Nesemeier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Zorica, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I believe my parents gave me a solid foundation to live authentically. So, what do I mean by that? They provided structure and boundaries that allowed me to learn right from wrong. Inside of this structure, I had freedom to take risks, own my decisions, learn from my mistakes and still always come home to their unconditional love. In my years of living, I’ve found that most people didn’t grow up in this type of stable environment and that has caused a bit of heartache and disconnect. My awareness of the need for more balance within the human mind is actually what led me to serve in my profession.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I was born and raised in former Yugoslavia. I had a very nice childhood until the war came. After that nothing was same as it was before. My parents decided that we will leave our country. On the one hand to protect us children and then they also knew that because of their “mixed marriage” (my mother Serbien, my father Croatian) it will not be easy for our family even after the war. We arrived in Germany after a long and dangerous journey full of uncertainty, fear and sadness. Now we were protected from the war, but then other difficulties came my way. I was a teenager who was supposed to be searching for myself, instead I had to get used to the new culture, language and people. Since I learned the language quick, I helped my parents with all official things, and because of that I had to grow up very quickly.
After 5 years, things got even worse for us. The war was over and it was decided that we were not allowed to stay in Germany. In the meantime, I graduated from high school, had a great boyfriend and my younger brother, who is deaf, could only speak German.
Through a great program of the USA my parents could be accepted there as refugees. I had to make a very difficult decision at the age of 19 and decided to marry my boyfriend and not go to the USA with my family. This decision was very difficult and the separation from my family caused me great sorrow for many years. However, I have not regretted it because I was lucky enough to meet the love of my life and have a wonderful daughter with him. We even celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary next year.
Now after 23 years of separation from my parents we have reunited at the end of 2021 by moving to Rockwall, Texas.
Because of the not so nice time during the war and afterwards I had a breakdown in my mid-twenties and knew I had to do something. I did some therapy, but it didn’t really help me. Since I come from a culture where natural medicine is very important, I decided to look for something else to do besides conventional methods.
Fortunately I found someone who does exactly what I do now and I am grateful to this woman for the rest of my life. Not only that she helped me in my own cause but that I also found my purpose. I have always enjoyed helping others and was mindful that those around me were doing well. By learning this profession, I have found the opportunity to fully live out this side of me and feel complete.
I use a system of muscle testing, acupressure, light massage and specific movements to improve postural balance and reduce physical and mental pain and tension. Through these techniques I help client’s remove mental blocks and support mental development.
Those are some of the techniques I use to balance body energies and the mind:
o Touch for Health
o Brain Gym®
o 3 in 1
o EDK-F
o Optimal Brain Organization
Every problem, both physical and mental, is the body trying to communicate with you. I use this “problem” to uncover the root cause of the issue and help the client permanently eliminate or at least alleviate the problem. I take a holistic approach and use my knowledge of psychology, anatomy and nutrition to support the goals of permanent improvement. No side effects, only side benefits!
This isn’t therapy in the traditional sense. I help my clients find the healing within themselves – this is the only place where answers for their problems can be found.
With the great tool of muscle testing, I have the wonderful opportunity to communicate with the body and locate the stress. Through my extensive knowledge of different methods I can look for a way to release this stress so that the client can develop in the desired direction.
I also want them to know that it’s okay to ask for help! No one needs to wait until they are broken to seek help! My goal is to empower my clients with the tools to “do the work” themselves in the future; creating a sense of independence and empowerment. My balances are also very nice for relaxing purposes and can be beneficial as a form of selfcare, even if there is no major problem to be solved at that moment.
Even though my life was not always easy, I am grateful for every experience because now I am able to put myself in my clients’ shoes, relate to them better and help them quicker. I am very grateful for this ability! I’m very proud of my continued trust in humans, despite what I’ve been through.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
In my profession, the most important thing is the ability to put myself in the client’s shoes – to actually know what the client is feeling because I’ve had similar life experiences and emotions.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes, I have unfortunately had a few moments in my life where I had to completely reorient myself. The most notable was after the escape to Germany.
More recently, the first couple months in the U.S. have been a big challenge for me, especially in my job. I now realized that every country and region is organized and structured differently. And even though I am very confident in my work, it has been a big adjustment to leave the existing structures and find my place in a new country.
