We recently connected with Zoraida Koenck and have shared our conversation below.
Zoraida, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Growing up, my family and I would take spontaneous day or weekend trips. Even if it was the next town over, we would explore the town, learn about the culture and taste great food! I believe every destination, including the city you live in has a lot to offer. My mission with A Tasteful Trip, is to inspire people to explore, taste incredible food and learn about different cultures by traveling to unique destinations.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a graduate of Conrad N. Hilton College for Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston, the hospitality (travel & tourism) industry is very important to me. In 2020, at the peak of the pandemic, I started A Tasteful Trip, a food and travel blog to support local and independent restaurants any way I could during a difficult time. As time went on, I shared more food and travel recommendations to hopefully inspire others to explore destinations while giving back to the hospitality industry. What I am most proud of is that my audience knows I share honest recommendations because I want them to have memorable experiences all while supporting local businesses.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is all about what value you can offer to your audience. More than sharing photos and videos of restaurants and destinations, I like to share the history and story behind why I loved visiting a certain place in hopes that my audience will want to visit as well. To learn more about my audience, I use Instagram stories with polls to ask them what type of content (photos or reels, food or travel and etc.) they look forward to seeing. Stories also allow my audience to connect with me one on one, relate and learn more about the behind the scenes of running a blog. When you’re starting to build a social media presence, I recommend to have a clear topic to share and look at your analytics to see who your audience is (demographics and what they enjoy seeing the most) so that you can get an idea of what type of content they enjoy. Social media is an ever evolving tool so it’s important to stay up to date with all the resources to continue to provide valuable content to your audience. Above all, be yourself, be honest and have fun sharing what you love!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being myself, sharing what I love and taking pride in my work has helped me build an engaged community and great relationships with businesses that I partner with. I also think that supporting other content creators is equally as important!
