We were lucky to catch up with Zondi Krehbiel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Zondi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
As Realtor, I believe I am a public servant and in a very good position to serve the underserved in our communities.
Zondi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a Realtor, I believe that the best way to describe myself would as a public / community servant. I am very passionate about people, the community and especially children. Putting children in secure homes is my utmost passion. Children are innocent and they are our future. If we don’t take great care of our future, we have no future. Since I have access to all sorts of resources, helping clients buy and sell homes is not the end of the deal for me. It goes beyond closing transactions. With all the resources at my fingertips and with the support of ReeceNichols as a company, I have the capability to help educate the community in home ownership especially in underserved communities that were not capable of acquiring generational wealth previously. As a company, ReeceNichols has come a long way thanks to the initial of our senior leadership in paving the way for us agents to help the underserved communities. Volunteering in the community and educating our future leadership about credit and home ownership is my passion and priority. This is also why I am a Gold Key Agent because I believe in taking care of families. As a Realtor, it’s not just about closing deals for me. It’s about being a community servant. I got into Real Estate because I did not know the process of home ownership. After we bought our house, I realized that there a lot of people with similar background as me that needed my help. Once I became a realtor, I learned from my Brokerage ReeceNichols that we had a lot of work to do in our communities. This is what makes me sleep good at night.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
High integrity, professionalism, transparency, knowledge, respect and sharing my knowledge selflessly. As a business person, it does not matter what kind of business you are doing, you genuinely have to respect and love people. It does not matter if they use your business or your competitor, loving people genuinely and respecting your clients time and the biggest investment of their lives should be your priority. Most of my business comes from referrals from past clients as well as family and friends that trust my product. Once you really start caring about people and not concentrating on the check, you will automatically be blessed with clients. If your goal is to be a transaction agent, good luck. But I am a relationship builder and really care about my people.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I unlearned to stop buying leads because I realized that called calling or paying money for leads was not matching with my personality. I would rather deal with someone referred to me. My very first client was a cash buyer from buying leads. This client felt so entitled because they were a cash buyer. I remember feeling very bad for the couple that were selling their home because my compassion for them was tremendous. They were not hard people to deal with. But my buyer was entitled that I was so glad when the transaction closed and that was the end of me buying leads.
