Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoë Zahasky. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zoë, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The tattoo industry is full of risk. When I first started tattooing there were many times I questioned if I was cut out for this line of work. Marking people forever is a lot of pressure!
You take a risk when you take the jump to start a career in this business.
You also take a risk on yourself.
You are self made in this business!
You have to push yourself to grow!
No one can do it for you.
I can’t think of a specific time because I take risks everyday. But those risks help you become a better artist.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Howdy! I’m a tattooer out of Fort Worth. I’ve currently been tattooing for about 6 years. I would say about 90 percent of my clientele is women. Men are welcome! My style is just more on the feminine side. I take pride in creating a very comfortable space for my clients. It’s important to me that my clients can express their ideas and concerns without fear of judgement. This is your tattoo! I want you to feel comfortable telling me you don’t like something. Too often clients, “people please” and say they like something when they don’t just to appease someone else. I strive to make an environment built mutual respect and trust. It makes me so happy to see more heavily tattooed people out there!

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
If you want to support an artist but can’t afford to get tattooed or just don’t have a desire to be tattooed please share our work! It doesn’t cost a dime to share a post on social media or refer us to a friend. When you support me you are also supporting my family. That tattoo is going to pay for my kids gymnastics, a new pair of shoes or buy their Christmas presents! Tattooing is a very personal profession
It’s a very “self-made” industry. But the client-tattooer relationship is crucial to our ecosystem. We really do rely on the support of our clients. Whether that be getting tattooed by us, sharing our work, buying our stickers and art or just telling a friend or coworker about us!
I have so much love for my regulars and am always accepting new clients!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One of the most rewarding parts of tattooing is helping people heal and chapter of life. Don’t get me wrong, not every tattoo is going to have some deep meaning to it.
In fact the more you get the less meaningful they get. I have Lucy from Disenchantment just because I loved his attitude in the show.
But there are those clients and tattoos that stay with you. I’ve done memorial tattoos for lost family members and baby foot prints for babies who didn’t make it. I’ve also done matching sister tattoos, sobriety tattoos and tattoos celebrating a pivotal point in a persons life. I don’t like to admit it but I’m a pretty sensitive person. These kinds of clients that come in with a story, is trusting me to help them close a chapter in life.
That’s a lot of trust and I do not take it lightly. It is so rewarding to be the person to help them heal.
