Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoe Schroeder. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Zoe, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in my professional career actually happened long before I ever became a dietitian. In college, I struggled with my own relationship with food and exercise. I was caught in that exhausting cycle of over‑restriction, over‑exercising, and constantly trying to “fix” my body with extreme diets that only left me feeling worse, physically and mentally. I felt confused, frustrated, and honestly a little ashamed that I couldn’t seem to get it right.
That season completely shifted the trajectory of my life. Instead of continuing down that path, I changed my major, dove into the science of nutrition, and made it my mission to understand how to fuel, support, and care for my body in a sustainable way. That decision didn’t just give me a degree, it gave me purpose.
It’s also the reason I show up for my clients the way I do. I know what it feels like to be stuck in the all‑or‑nothing mindset, to distrust your body, and to be overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice. My personal experience allows me to coach with empathy, relatability, and zero judgment, while my education and credentials allow me to bring the science and strategy they need to finally break out of that cycle.
Looking back, that difficult chapter became the foundation of my career, my coaching philosophy, and the entire business I’ve built. And the biggest lesson I’ve carried with me is this: your hardest seasons can become your greatest sources of impact if you choose to learn from them and use them to help others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Zoë Schroeder, a Registered Dietitian, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and the founder of Zoë Schroeder Nutrition, an online nutrition coaching business dedicated to helping women achieve sustainable fat loss without restriction, overwhelm, or burnout.
My journey into this field started from a very personal place. In college, I struggled with disordered eating and fell into the trap of chasing extreme diets and over-exercising in an effort to “fix” my body. That experience not only impacted my health, it left me feeling confused, isolated, and like I was constantly doing something wrong. I eventually realized I wasn’t the problem, the strategies I was following were. That realization led me to change my major, earn my Master’s in Sports Nutrition, and dedicate my career to helping other women avoid the same pain and frustration I went through.
Through Zoë Schroeder Nutrition, I offer 1:1 coaching, Nutrition Intensives, we also now accept insurance and have a growing team of Registered Dietitians supporting clients across the country. What sets us apart is our blend of science-backed guidance, compassionate coaching, and truly personalized support. We don’t believe in cutting out food groups, handing out rigid plans, or selling quick fixes. We help clients understand how to fuel their bodies, build lasting habits, and achieve their goals in a way that’s both effective and realistic for their lifestyle.
The women who come to me are smart, capable, and tired of starting over. They’re done with fad diets and ready for something that actually works, and lasts. What they get from us isn’t just nutrition coaching. It’s mindset shifts, confidence, and a plan they can trust.
What I’m most proud of is the ripple effect this work has. When a woman learns how to eat to support her body, when she feels strong and confident and no longer stressed about food, it changes her life. And that change impacts her family, her energy, her work, and her relationships. That’s the deeper mission behind everything we do.
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this: you don’t have to choose between results and your quality of life. You can have both, with the right strategy and support.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Hands down, the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been creating exceptional client experiences and outcomes that people want to talk about. When someone feels truly seen, supported, and successful in their journey, especially after years of struggling with dieting, they naturally tell their friends, family, coworkers, and community.
Referrals have been a major driver of growth because the results we create are both real and sustainable. Clients aren’t just losing fat, they’re gaining confidence, food freedom, and a completely new relationship with their bodies. That kind of transformation speaks for itself. And because we personalize every approach, the process feels doable, empowering, and worth sharing.
At the end of the day, I believe the best marketing is doing your job really well. If I serve my clients at the highest level, the rest follows.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Beyond education and credentials, the most important trait for success in this field is resilience.
There are going to be slow seasons, moments of self-doubt, launches that flop, and content that no one engages with. It’s easy to feel like giving up when things don’t move as fast as you hoped, but the ability to keep showing up, even when it’s quiet, is what separates those who build something sustainable from those who burn out early.
I’ve had plenty of hard days (still do), times when I questioned whether it was all worth it. But I kept coming back to my mission and the people I serve. That consistency, even when things feel uncertain, is what builds trust, momentum, and long-term growth. Success doesn’t come from never struggling, it comes from not letting the struggle stop you.
