We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zoe Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zoe Rose, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My life is full of meaningful projects. In fact, I believe life itself is a meaningful project; it is a work of art that is never finished, continuously expanding and becoming more of itself through many avenues and channels of expression. About a year ago was the first time I felt myself commit to projects that truly mean a lot to me. Each painting that I create is a project in itself, but when I expand beyond the painting, and into the story that the painting is a part of, I am able to find more meaning in it. Currently, I working on a solo art show that has been about a year in the making. There were times when I put a lot of pressure on myself about deadlines and discipline, but began to learn that because it is so meaningful, it is so important to allow the work to be birthed from me in an easeful and graceful way. At around the same time the idea for my art show was planted, I also chose to start a YouTube channel called the Art of Life. These projects weave together in such a beautiful way because they nourish each other, and allow me channel my creative energy into different forms of art; both video and painting.
I am also now opening my art studio in Malibu to teach painting classes that inspire authentic self expression. This is another project that is meaningful to me as it gives me the space to use my gifts to impact others.
By choosing more than one meaningful project to focus on, I feel like a more well rounded creative and am learning so much more about myself than if I were to have chose to focus on just my paintings alone.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Artist of Life; a creator and lover of art, devoted to awakening and inspiring the true creative spirit within everyone. I am a painter, a facilitator of creative expression, and now share my voice through my YouTube channel called The Art of Life.
My curiosity to learn more about my role as an artist in this world has led me on a passionate pursuit of both Beauty and Truth. I see Art as a doorway into deeper levels of Being. It has led me on a path of Spirituality and Self Discovery which is continuously challenging me to expand my horizons and open my heart and mind to the possibility there is much, much more to life and art than meets the eye. Art has not only helped me understand more about myself and the greater human experience, but it has given me a deeper understanding of the delicate cosmic thread that unites us all.
I was given a paintbrush when I was 2 years old and have developed a strong relationship with my creative impulse ever since. I went to college for engineering, quit 2 years in, and moved to New York City to pursue modeling. I found my love of painting again because modeling did not fulfill me. I chose to commit to the path of the full time artist when I was 21 years old and was able to use social media to sell my work. One of my paintings went viral on instagram and I gained a big following, which brought me in many commissions and sales to support myself as an artist. It has been quite the journey to arrive where I am today, filled with lots of lessons and many twists and turns, all necessary in shaping my vision of the journey that lies ahead; a vision where art holds the key to unlocking higher levels of consciousness and where artists are at the forefront of awakening humanity to a New Paradigm Shift.
I’ve learned above all to keep following my bliss: a burning desire to create art from a place of truth and experience life itself as an artform; infused with beauty, poetry, wisdom, and love. Along this path, I aspire to continue to learn and evolve, while cultivating a greater understanding of the purity of my purpose. I see my art as an ally in this whole process of becoming.
Through painting, I am interested in touching parts of the Soul that need our attention: the parts that remind us of our collective humanity, the parts that recognize beauty as a reflection of our own inner nature, the parts that wish to feel more and see more.
I have realized that my creative powers are not mine alone, but are here to be shared collectively in a deeper, more meaningful way. In doing so, I hope to inspire others to follow their own creative calling, and let it lead them to living a conscious life full of exploration, wonder, beauty, and love.
I work from my art studio in Malibu, California, where you can find me painting and hosting painting experiences.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We are all Artists of Life. When we choose to create works of art that align with the truth of our soul, the more liberated we will feel in Life itself. Creative expression is vital to the health of our souls and to the soul of our world. By making Art from the deepest parts of myself, I hope to inspire others to do the same. We came here to express! It is our gift to the world to let our unique essence shine through all that we create.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being a part of the process of creation. When I allow the creative spirit to move through me and surrender to its flow, I get to witness the magic unfold. The participation itself is so rewarding because it allows you to be so fully present and notice every little miracle of the creative process that is necessary in giving birth to the final artwork.
