Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zoe Katz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Zoe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Okay, here’s a response about how Sip Up loves to show customer appreciation:
At Sip Up, we believe in going above and beyond to show our customers how much we appreciate them. One of our favorite ways to do this is by hosting customer appreciation parties that bring together small local businesses for sip and shop events. These events not only give our customers a fun and unique shopping experience but also provide valuable exposure for other businesses in our community.
One event that really stands out is our “Valentines for Veterans” event. My good friend, employee, and marketing guru helped putting the whole thing together. ( Kayla Sher) We hosted it right in our nutrition shop, where people could come in, create handmade Valentine’s Day cards for local veterans, and shop from local vendors. It was an incredible way to honor our veterans and support other businesses.
What made this event so special was the heartfelt connection it created. People poured their love and gratitude into each card, knowing they would bring joy to someone who had served our country. My friend even personally delivered the cards to veterans in local nursing homes. It was a powerful reminder that businesses can support each other while also giving back to the community. The feeling of making a difference, combined with the joy of supporting local vendors, left everyone with a warm heart and a deep sense of appreciation. Businesses supporting businesses and supporting our local community is what it’s all about!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi everyone, I’m Zoe Katz, a mother of three, soon-to-be wife to my partner of 11 years, and the owner of Sip Up Summerville. Before Herbalife and the amazing opportunities it’s given my family, I was a waitress, ice cream scooper, dental assistant, and even a glasses maker for Lens Crafters. I never really found my calling; I’d learn a job and then move on. My fiancé always encouraged me to leave if I wasn’t happy, so I bounced around a lot.
That was until Sip Up Summerville. Our good friends opened a nutrition shop a couple of years before I opened my own, and after visiting it for the first time, my fiancé asked if I’d ever want to own one. I initially said no, but something changed. I didn’t want to work for anyone else, and I loved the products and the testimonies I’d seen. So, in September 2023, we took a chance and opened Sip Up. It’s been incredible ever since.
We’ve been open for almost two years now, helping clients become their best selves, feel great, and look amazing. We’ve built relationships, gained lifelong friendships, and being in the heart of Knightsville has opened so many doors. Sip Up Summerville is all about the community, and serving the community as much as we can is what sets us apart. We offer a variety of options, from high-protein coffee to 24-gram protein shakes loaded with vitamins and minerals. Our energy-loaded teas have Summerville hooked. They’re packed with B vitamins, boost your metabolism, curb your hunger, and give you lasting energy without the crash. Whether you’re in the mood for sour, sweet, chocolate, or vanilla, we’ve got you covered. And if you’re not a fan of being in public, you can order everything we have in the shop and have it delivered to your door. You can even become a Preferred Member and get one-on-one coaching with me, making teas, coffee, and shakes in the comfort of your own home. Sip Up is just getting started, and we can’t wait for you to walk through our door.

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
Yes, owning a business is not the easiest thing—it’s a constant juggling act. There’s so much going out, especially when the revenue isn’t always consistently coming in. There have been a few times I’ve looked at Sip Up and thought, “Are we really going to make it through this?”
But the one thing I can tell you is: have faith. Faith in God, and the drive to work your booty off! Every time we see the business slipping, we hit the pavement—doing invites, tea drops, and just hustling with everything we’ve got.
It truly is a privilege to be able to choose your hard in this life. So whatever you’re building, don’t give up. Keep your faith strong and your hustle stronger.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has truly been people walking through the door and seeing the results for themselves. Not to toot my own horn, but Herbalife has done amazing things for my body. Of course, staying consistent with the gym and maintaining a healthy diet goes hand-in-hand, but when people actually see something working, they naturally become curious and want to be part of it.
Another big driver has been the convenience—once people realize they can have all the products delivered right to their doorstep, it becomes even more appealing. On top of that, we’re always inviting others in and sharing the business with them. Word of mouth and personal results really go a long way.
