We were lucky to catch up with Zirrius Sharp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Zirrius, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Before establishing Z-Blendz LLC, I considered numerous names. Incorporating my personal identity into the brand was a key factor in the naming process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I entered the barbering industry during my college years, starting by cutting hair in my dorm room to earn extra income while pursuing a degree in business management and marketing. Although I had never used clippers before, my entrepreneurial spirit led me to establish Krispy Cutz LLC, a mobile salon service, during my sophomore year. This venture involved collaborating with various beauty professionals on campus, managing bookings, and marketing services to match clients with the right artist.
However, my entrepreneurial journey hit a roadblock post-graduation when I found myself working at a 9-5 job dismantling engines for Cummins. Despite the stable income, witnessing colleagues secure full-time positions while working as a temporary worker. This pushed me to reignite my passion for barbering and entrepreneurship. Encouraged by my longtime barber Chad and my family , I enrolled at Michael’s Barbering Academy in Irving, Texas, and obtained my license in 2018.
Barber school reignited my creativity and business acumen, paving the way for the establishment of Z-Blendz LLC . Our company offers premium hair and skincare products, monthly membership plans, and complimentary back-to-school haircuts for children around DFW. Our mission at Z-Blendz is to deliver top-notch grooming services while showcasing our dedication to the craft and our commitment to uplifting our community.
I am immensely grateful for the unwavering support of my loved ones, friends, and clients throughout this journey. I take pride in persevering through challenges and realizing my dream. Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Currently, I am self-funding my business. I am actively engaged in expanding my knowledge regarding business funding through literature and networking with fellow entrepreneurs who have either successfully established their business capital or are in the process of doing so.
I am committed to continuous learning and the advancement of my business endeavors.
