Zipporah, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
Improving the education system to better prepare students for life and career success involves several key changes:
1. Holistic Skill Development: Emphasizing not only academic subjects but also critical life skills such as communication, problem-solving, financial literacy, and emotional intelligence.
2. Career Readiness: Introducing students to practical career pathways earlier, including vocational training, internships, trade schools and mentorship opportunities.
3. Personalized Learning: Tailoring education to individual strengths and interests, allowing students to explore their passions and develop expertise.
4. Technology Integration: Leveraging technology for interactive learning, remote education options, and preparing students for the digital world.
5. Wellness and Mental Health Support: Ensuring access to resources that support student well-being and mental health.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Throughout my life, I have recognized my innate ability to connect with and inspire children. From my early days in high school through college, I actively engaged in working and volunteering with children, whether through tutoring elementary students or taking on roles as a lead daycare teacher and after-school advisor. These experiences consistently affirmed my passion for fostering academic growth and nurturing personal development in young learners.
Following my college graduation, I embarked on a teaching career driven by this passion. However, I soon encountered challenges within the traditional educational system where the emphasis on standardized testing often overshadowed the holistic academic advancement of students. Disheartened by these constraints, I made the decision to transition away from the classroom after my second year of teaching.
This pivotal moment led to the establishment of Helping Hands Academic Services, a venture focused on providing personalized homeschooling and tutoring solutions. Collaborating with like-minded individuals, such as my co-owner Johnny White, we have cultivated a community dedicated to delivering academic excellence tailored to the unique needs of every child.
Currently, we are actively expanding our mission by developing plans to launch an Early School Daycare center aimed at further enriching educational opportunities across the Houston/Spring area. Our goal is to create an environment where children can thrive academically and personally, free from the constraints of conventional educational norms.
Have you ever had to pivot?
As a former educator who took a leap of faith to establish my own business, I faced a decisive moment where success was my only option. In the initial years of launching my venture, I achieved significant milestones by securing contracts with reputable institutions such as Klein ISD, Boys & Girls Club of America, private schools, and serving 15 families through homeschooling and tutoring services.
However, the onset of the pandemic necessitated a temporary shift in my career trajectory. To maintain financial stability, I transitioned back into the workforce, balancing the demands of a full-time job alongside managing my business. This period required me to hone my time management skills effectively, ensuring that I could sustain both professional roles until circumstances allowed me to resume full-time entrepreneurship.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I am fortunate to co-manage my business alongside my biological brother, a retired veteran of the United States Navy. His unwavering dedication to the mission of Helping Hands Academic Services has been evident from the outset and has significantly contributed to our business’s success.
