We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zion Harper. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zion below.
Zion , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Being a deaf photographer I’m breaking barriers. When people hear that you are deaf they tend to focus more on your disability rather your profession. So I usually disclose the fact that I’m deaf so that I’m giving the same chance as a photographer that can hear. I want to be remembered for my creative work and photography skills. I love to capture rare moments and put them on display.

Zion , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Since the age of 2 years old I have always had a passion for taking photos. When I turned 15 years old my mom purchased my first camera. I started my photography business (Zion Grant Photography) soon after. I’m a free lance photographer. My business offers a variety of packages such as family portraits, senior photos, weddings, reunions, church events, etc. I’m most proud to still be able to continue to do what I love most and that is to capture memories.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Im the media director at my local church and we have a pretty big congregation so my social media presence developed from there. My advice for those who is seeking to build a social media presence is learn to be humble because social media can be very negative at times so you just have to learn not every action needs a reaction.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele is going out in the community and showing support to other businesses or attending events, showing off my portfolio and getting my name out there.
