We recently connected with Zinnia Moon and have shared our conversation below.
Zinnia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My life has never been without music. Whether it was my dad jamming out on the guitar or a record spinning, music was always present while growing up. My love for music came very naturally. I developed an early interest in music and have pursued my love and passion for it ever since. I started out in theater, but I soon expanded to include the ukulele and piano. I started doing live performances at the age of eleven, taking after my older sister Sahara Moon. I quickly discovered my true love for music and knew this was what I wanted to do for a living. I began writing songs and started to take them more seriously as I grew older. Ever since, I have been booking weekly gigs throughout the years, playing at weddings, festivals, and venues.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a pop singer-songwriter and artist from New Jersey, currently located in Nashville, Tennessee studying songwriting at Belmont University.
Setting me apart from others is my distinct and unique vocal tone and energy, creating a timeless performance. Captivating my audience with my lyrical ability, prevalent within my songwriting, I incorporate exuberant vocal inflections that appeal to today’s pop culture.
I am very excited to be working on some new music at the moment, in hopes to release my first single this spring! Stay tuned!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When someone can relate to your music on an emotional level, that is, in my eyes, the most fulfilling thing about being a singer, songwriter, and artist. Nothing, in my opinion, is more rewarding than having someone connect with your music because it fosters a relationship between you and them. I will always be grateful for the ability to use music to provide happiness, entertainment, or a feeling of community to others.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Being heard by society is, in my opinion, the most crucial thing for musicians! As a whole, I think that society needs to be better listeners and to hear what people have to say, especially through music. It’s a wonderful feeling for a singer/songwriter to know that others are taking the time to listen to their work, and appreciate them for who they are. Leaving likes, comments, and shares on posts and songs is a powerful way that society can help out artists. In a world full of musicians, sharing music with others helps you stand out and gets your name out there!
