We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zineb Baaout a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zineb, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Four years ago, I embarked on a journey to the United States for my master’s degree. With no acquaintances in the country and uncertain about repaying the loan I had taken, I took my first flight ever and began living independently. This risk was essential for my personal growth, allowing me to explore new perspectives and make informed comparisons between my home country’s advantages and disadvantages, and those of my new surroundings. Undoubtedly, it was the best choice I ever made, as it taught me to value the aspects I had previously taken for granted, such as family and community. In this foreign land, I not only found the love of my life but also secured my first job as an engineer which enabled me to save and savor life’s pleasures a bit more.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a 26-year-old mechanical engineer who is currently navigating life changes that have led me to discover a passion for content creation specifically in the travel sector and a stronger inclination towards entrepreneurship than my role as an engineer. Despite my professional background, my aspiration is to become an independent entrepreneur while focusing on content creation. Currently, my primary focus involves honing my skills in photo and video editing. I take pleasure in sharing my knowledge about various topics and places I visited, which is why I invest considerable effort into crafting informative content for my audience. What I take great pride in is my ability to remain dedicated to personal growth, free from the trap of comparing myself to other creators. While I draw inspiration from them, I don’t let slow progress or setbacks discourage me. My optimism remains steadfast, as I firmly believe that the only true failure lies in giving up.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of my creative journey is seeing that there is an audience that enjoys the content I create, whether small or big, the most important aspect for me was the fact that my content resonates with people and that sharing my passion attracts an audience.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In January 2023, I had to leave my 9-5 job because of unforeseen circumstances and I used that time to create more content and be more consistent with my social media platforms. Instead of depressing about what was out of control, I decided to improve what was controllable.
