We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zina Thrower a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Zina, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I have lived a life of trying to figure out what my purpose in this life was. I always knew that God had a purpose for me, since I was a little girl. He kept putting me in places and situations to serve others. though out my life, I did for everyone else, and made myself last. I enjoyed being in the back of the room and not seen. That behind-the-scenes person, never realizing that I was the most important person in the room. So, after broken relationships, divorce, bankruptcy, incest and rape. I had to find myself. My three girls were off living their life and I was an empty nester. Spending four years dating myself, I used that time to hopefully find out who I was. Here’s the learning curve, I moved before God told me too. I got married again, and realized while in the middle of the pandemic, that I still was not complete and had stepped out of the will of God. My spirit had been broken, my trust in people had been broken my relationship with my God had been broken. How did I get back on track, I went back to building my relationship with my God and listened to what he said to do. Once I did that, doors started to open. So, I became an author on an anthology project called Blessed not Broken, the power of transformation vol 3. hosted by one of my mentor’s visionary author Tamara Michell Davis. With that I became inspired, found my voice stated believing in myself. It took another year for me to walk into my purpose. That’s when I became a podcaster with the inspiration and empowerment of my mentor, coach and sister-friend Leah M. Forney. I know what it’s like to be a midlifer and not know your way. You still have the dreams and desires in you, but not know how to activate them. You’re at the age where you think it’s over. I’m here to tell you it’s not. At 59 years young, I’m late coming out of the gate, but I’m out and no one can put me back. “If God be for me, whom can be against me”.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Queen Zina Thrower, Author, (Blessed not Broken, Power of transformation vol. 3) Podcaster (Purpose in Motion) and Mid-life Activator (Building a platform of learning). I also spend my time making inspiration glass wear. I’m a mother of three Queens, a grandmother of one Queen, four Princess and One King, a great-grandmother of one Princess. I am a wife and a daughter. I walked into several industries following what my God instructed me to do. I became an author, podcaster and a Mid-life Activator from divine connections. I am here to help our Queens 40 years young and older to find their voice, dreams and desires with the guidance of God. This journey is bigger than you and me. Sometimes we don’t know our “WHY”. Sometimes we need to hear one thing to give us that “Ah” moment. Working with me, we will explore the journey together and find the answers. It’s your time to come from the back of the room and let your light shine, Queens. Have you ever had a conversation with your spouse, boyfriend or bff and realized that there’s a journey you’re ready to go on and that they may not be coming with you? God didn’t give them the dream, He gave it to you.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to inspire and empower Queens that feel like it’s too late for their dreams to manifest. I have been where they are, fearful, doubtful and untrusting. I want to give back, what has been given to me, inspiration, trust, sister-love, empowerment. Someone took the time to believe in me and help me believe in myself. stepping out of your comfort zone can be a very scary step.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Just show up as the best version of yourself. Be transparent and tell the true, they just want to know who the real you are. Visibility is a very important part (go live, share your life, celebrate them and etc.) My visibility started as a challenge to go live for thirty days by one of my mentors I haven’t stop yet. The more I did it the easier it became.
