Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ziere Bryant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi ZIERE, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Fantastic question, If I HAD to choose, I would say sooner. That answer might come as a surprise to those who have been with me on my journey since day one because I am one of the few artists who had the foresight to start their career early. I released my very first song in 2014 while I was still a teenager. Most people around me didn’t take me serious & whilst many might’ve considered being young a handicap due to age allocations, as I look around at the field nowadays, I can tell I made the right decision.
Artistry is not a competition, everyone’s on their own individual journey but when I do take time to indulge in others’ material, I can’t help but notice when others are still going through their whole “self-discovery” phase & learning their strengths/weaknesses whereas I was able to figure out & develop myself a very long time ago. If I had waited until I became an adult to get the ball rolling, it would feel like I’m playing a never-ending game of catch up.
If I could change anything about the way my career progressed, I would have started teaching myself how to audio engineer sooner than I did, & I would have started shooting my own music videos sooner as well.
ZIERE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Zi’Ere Bryant Aka ZI3RE (zy – ear). I’m an artist & audio engineer located in Atlanta, GA. I got into the industry/game by way of honing/showcasing my skills & rendering services to other upcoming creatives in an effort to build repour.
Before I learned the art of audio engineering, I offered other services such as aggregation (distribution to streaming sites), graphic design & later on down the line I came into ownership of camera equipment & quickly started providing photo & video shoots as other means of income.
In regard to which of my services I’m most proud of I would have to say content aggregation. During the early 2010’s when I first figured out how to aggregate, streaming had just become the new industry standard; and at that time everyone wanted their music as many places as possible but only a select few people knew how to go about the process without it costing an arm and two legs. Thanks to social media & word of mouth I was able to establish myself amongst my city and surrounding areas letting it be known that I was the go-to guy for getting your music on Apple Music, Spotify, or any of the other popular streaming sites, quickly turning aggregation into a reliable revenue stream.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most resilient times in my journey was around the year 2018 when I lost access to studio equipment and didn’t know how or if I was going to continue to produce music. Around that time, I was dealing with a lot of “real-life” situations as well, so music being on the back burner would have been understandable to everyone but instead of giving up and not knowing where to turn I turned to myself and started purchasing studio equipment so I could begin teaching myself how to audio engineer.
Although it may have taken years to learn the process, just having the equipment was a way for me to continue my craft and develop another soon to be revenue stream.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media can be a very tricky landscape. There are a million different places to be seen, and they all operate differently. What works for one platform might not work for another and vice versa so it really pays off paying attention to detail, knowing what works and why and figuring out the best way for you to implement yourself into the algorithms; whilst still remaining yourself at the end of the day.
If you’re not careful you can fall into what feels like a rat race for attention & it can place a toll on your mental health as comparison will forever be the joy of thief. The best way to build your audience is to be yourself create content specific to you & the more the merrier!
