We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zelossie Auset a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Zelossie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I guess there usually is that one story. The story that brings about that million-dollar idea to start that business, or to play that lottery ticket, or to pursue THAT dream. But, for me it has been an accumulation of many different experiences, all of which have validated and called me forth to make something of my sensitivity. Having learned emotions are not “weak” or random, and that I could rely on them to show me what my most aligned options were, has led me on this journey of really redefining intimacy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Those things that I am drawn to and that I value have meaning, and I am incredibly grateful for all the ways in which I am able to captivate and share my perspective and life experiences. Rather I am dancing, designing, strategizing or managing an event, I tweak, improve and make things more efficient. I am here to show, present, teach, consult, and guide (towards new or better ways), because I am expert and keen at understanding systems and how they can work better. You are able to witness how I have been able to dig into, experience and explore the varying degrees of intimacy, from getting real and raw with myself, to the different relationships in my life.Taking a step back from my professional career as a Ballroom Dancer allowed me time and space to redefine my artistry. My art is a big part of my need for expression, but more recently my efforts have been focused on guiding and making improvements. 2952 Designs is officially in its rebranding phase. Blessed with a ‘spiritual knowing’, I am focused on the abundance of good I get to contribute and receive in all of my professional positions. I do not put value on how much I work, I value instead, how much I am adding to others’ lives.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my variety of skills, which have exposed me to various markets and people, allows me to understand and relate better with others. Things seem to always have some alignment to the next thing that I am wanting or needing to do. Of course, reliability and consistency matters, but all of it really comes down to me being great at what I do.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Having been in a few leadership positions and roles, the best advice I can give anyone managing a team and wanting to maintain high morale is to truly understand the phrase of one size fits one. All team members are not the same and what they can offer will be different intrinsically. Your goal should be to focus on the individual and their strengths and how that can contribute to the overall goal and team effort.
