Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zay Penny. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Zay, appreciate you joining us today. Your ability to build a team is often a key determinant of your success as a business owner and so we’d love to get a conversation going with successful entrepreneurs like yourself around what your recruiting process was like -especially early on. How did you build your team?

Creative face started with me, liangela jones , david johnson

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I been apart of fashion since 2017, interning for newyork fashion week , styling designers or helping market brands, etc . Always knew this was for me . I created a magazine because I seen first hand how hard it is to get in this industry. I wanted creative face to be for the unknown, the cool original ones that the industry frown upon. Creative face is about being your true self. I wanted to be the biggest example of that.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

I met bruised (Abdurrahman Danquah, VP) at a art exhibition. he’s the friendliest person I know. He can start conversation with literally anybody. Bro just walked up to me and was like “your shirt fire” , we later started talking about what we do and he’s a photographer, I own a magazine, so we clicked . Later I had a shoot in houston and dude was hard , it caught my eye how dedicated he was , so I gave him a test I was flying to New York to shoot some models and wanted to see if he was dedicated enough to hop on a plane for creative face . Long story short he did and we been to the met gala , and every other city where we host creative face shoots . and Lala (Fashion Director) , I’ve known her for 6 years . That’s my sister , stylist and Bestfriend. Creative face wouldn’t be creative face without her truly .

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Well with creative face, it’s for everyone. We want everyone to be apart of this journey. Being consistent and helping others reach their goal is the only way you’ll gain a audience.
