We were lucky to catch up with Zary Irurita recently and have shared our conversation below.
Zary, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My love for interiors was always evident in my youth years as my grandparents always took my siblings and I thrifting. Sometime my grandma would have me help her put event decor together also. But, this business really took a turn for me when Covid hit and I was stuck at home trying to find myself as I’m sure everyone was. We had just bought our home a year ago and we were tight on money. I had to find how to make my house in a home on a huge budget. I started to DIY a lot of areas in my home and thrift decor. I decided to document some of the process on Instagram. From there, many people would ask me if I would help them or if they could hire me. After much consideration, I decided to branch out and accept the offers that were handed to me. I loved making clients fall in love their spaces again.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Although, I have my bachelors in Public Relations and Communications- my love for interior design surpasses all. Not only do I have my interior design business, I also work full time with Comcast as an Event Planner. I offer services that include virtual design, full remodels and soft design services such as decorating a certain space or helping clients choose paint colors or furniture for their spaces.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My clients in the past have expressed my resilience to stay within their budget while not compromising the end result. Everyone’s budget is so different and I want to honor each client while still making their space what they envision.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I am a huge believer in there’s always something to learn and to never get comfortable within your craft- there’s always growing to be done. I study a lot of interior designers and their characteristics and specialities within the craft of interior design. I love following along with a variety of books to expand my knowledge in different trends, materials, etc.
