Zaria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Cresetta is more than just a loungewear brand. Our story starts with my great-grandmother — Cresetta. She was a respected fashion designer and seamstress throughout Jamaica; sketching anything a client desired and creating beautiful pieces. She instilled the principles of passion, meticulous design, and creativity in me at a young age, so naturally I set out to share her gift with the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Zaria and I am the creative director and founder of Cresetta Co. As a young girl, I’ve always been into fashion and often observed my great grandmother sketch, design, cut and sew fabric together to create almost anything. I would sit near her and watch her pull out the sewing machine and tell me stories. I have always known that I wanted a brand of my own, and although I can not sew, I could design. I have a niche for essential pieces, basics, and loungewear. Cresetta is a loungewear brand. We are committed to ensuring comfort and confidence in every design. Our carefully created designs will enhance the bold and beautiful spirit that naturally resides within us all. Loungewear should be cute, but it should also be quality. Often times, it’s easy to purchase loungewear but it is pricy, poor quality, or doesn’t fit the body right. With Cresetta, we set out to solve these problems. We also actively take customer feedback and reviews seriously. We engage with our customers on social media in order to gauge their wants and needs and better service the market.
I am most proud of the community of Cresetta Vixens that have supported and continue to support our small brand. They make it worthwhile and make everything go round. We just want them to know how much we appreciate it!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We actively engage with our customers on social media and engage via e-marketing or customer reviews on the website. We also hand write specific notes to each customer and aim to offer customer loyalty discounts.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When working with your own designs, you work with a pattern maker and manufacturer. Oftentimes, delays can occur and slow down the production timeline that was in mind. Whenever this occurs, I have to pivot in order to still deliver my product and also stay consistent. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that everything is not on my time, and I cannot do this all alone. However, that is the beauty of it all. Having a team making it worthwhile.
