We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zara Silver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zara below.
Zara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always knew dance would be part of my future—it was a passion that came so naturally to me. I was constantly craving more—learning, practicing, pushing myself. I started dancing around 12, which is considered late compared to most dancers who begin as young as 3. But instead of feeling discouraged, it fueled me. I worked twice as hard to catch up to my peers in skill and technique, training and practicing whenever and wherever I could. What truly ignited my drive was watching dance competition shows. I’d watch episodes over and over, and deep down, I knew that one day I would be that dancer on stage, performing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a dedicated dancer with a focus on acro, contemporary, and jazz styles. My dance journey is a reflection of my commitment and hard work, which I love sharing with my audience. I’m best known for my viral videos on social media, where I showcase a mix of dance tricks, provide tutorials, and share glimpses of my lifestyle. These videos have helped me build a strong connection with my audience and inspire others through my passion for dance.
A major highlight of my career has been being accepted into my top-choice college in Los Angeles, CA, where I’m currently pursuing dance. This achievement is the result of years of dedication and fuels my drive to keep challenging myself and growing in my art.
What really distinguishes me as a dancer is my exceptional flexibility and control. These skills not only add depth to my performances but also give me an edge in mastering the intricate styles of acro, contemporary, and jazz.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was adopted from a Russian orphanage at the age of 4 and embraced by a loving family in America. I always go back and think about what my life could have been if my parents wouldn’t have adopted me. From my earliest days at home, I was already showing my parents my love for dance, doing cartwheels and jumps all over the house. This is what led them to believe I would one day have a future in the dance or cheerleading community.
In the beginning, I taught myself many dance techniques before eventually receiving formal training with a dance coach. This commitment led me to competitive dance and, ultimately, to study dance at a college in Los Angeles, CA.
Through my platform, I aim to be a voice for young dancers who may struggle with self-doubt or are seeking confidence in their abilities.I want to show them that with determination, anything is possible. My journey is a testament to how passion and perseverance can help you overcome any challenge and reach your dreams.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I don’t think there are specific resources I wish I had known about, but I believe our community needs to focus on raising awareness about free dance classes and mentorship opportunities in underprivileged areas. It would be wonderful to see more grants available for young dance students to help them pave their paths for the future. We need more advocates in the community speaking up for those who feel overlooked, empowering them to realize they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
