We were lucky to catch up with Zaidra James recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Zaidra, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

No, I do not wish that I started my career sooner due to the simple fact that there are things I had to learn out side of my career in my job, school, and during my athletic career that I would never be able to learn in my modeling and career as an influencer. For instance, I would no know to value the little things and the hard times.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am Zaidra James also known as Zdiamond, I am a 24 year old model and influencer. I motivate everyone to love their skin and embrace what society label as not “beautiful” and to love every part of themself especially their Skin.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding part of being a Model and Influencer is the fact that I can brighten a individuals day with just a post ,words of encouragement, or even a funny video and I also love reading emails and messages where young women and men tell me how much I have help them love themselves, skin, and even help with their over all confidence because they can relate to me.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I built my audience in a matter of a week when I went viral on social media.; my story started when I decided that I wanted to begin to influence young dark skin girls on social media to be confident. I decided I wanted to collaborate and put my presence out there by showing up on other influencers platforms. In the video that went viral men basically were talking down on my skin tone and saying that I was not beautiful just because of my skin tone and every one liked how I handled the situation and kept showing that even though the world is trying to tear me down and humiliate me by saying I am not beautiful simply because of my complexion I stayed kind and confident.
