Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zaid Dahhaj. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zaid, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My father instilled me with the core values of discipline, loyalty, respect and responsibility. As I got older, I began to realize how these values were an inherent part of my character. They’ve informed my ability to think and operate in the world.
One perfect example is my ability to stick with something for years. I’ve played competitive soccer since the age of 4.
I’ve recorded 200+ episodes of my podcast (called The 2AM Podcast).
My father did an excellent job raising me.
My mother showed me the true colors of unconditional love, sacrifice, and what it’s like to nurture properly.
She was the perfect mom in every sense of the word.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve been obsessed with holistic health for the past 7 years which stemmed from my father passing of heart disease.
That was a painful experience, but it was a necessary one for me to discover my love for all things health and wellness.
Now, I coach men 1-on-1 and walk them through each of the core principles of holistic health from the ground up over an 8 week period.
My coaching consists of 6 pillars: Sleep, hydration, nutrition, movement/training, supplementation and blood + gene analysis.
I base my coaching on a holistic philosophy rather than an atomistic one which sets me apart from the competition or medical industry because I take everything into account, not just a few things here or there.
My work focuses mostly on the forest rather than the trees.
I also focus on the 80/20 principle so that you get to use the most effective principles for incredible progress in less time.
I’m most proud of how I’ve helped many men take control of their health and experience fantastic results from improved sleep to an increasing their energy.
I want the men out there to know that health is your most precious asset. Without it, everything else goes down the drain.
There’s a lot of confusion within the health space, but you can rely on people who are truly obsessed with the field and learn directly from them – cutting years off your learning curve.
Ultimately, I’m inspired to do this work because my father passed prematurely and my family and I had to suffer because of it.
I don’t want any other men to experience that fate or put their family through the same turmoil.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The ability to appreciate nuance. Within the health space, there is no “one size fits all” solution. Often times, you have to adapt to the specific needs of your client.
Closely related is the idea that you’re always a student. It serves you and your clients no favor to hold onto rigid ideas because this work requires mental flexibility.
Keep your mind open, pull from an eclectic range of resources, and do your best.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Since the age of 4, I’ve always wanted to be a professional soccer player. I’ve trained competitively for over 20 years at this point. I’ve traveled internationally on my own to pursue that childhood dream, but it wasn’t in the cards for me.
I’ve made peace with it because I truly believe that my life is divinely inspired.
Looking back, everything has happened for a reason and situations have aligned themselves perfectly for me to be here right now.
I’m grateful for the lessons the game has taught me and still play it to this day.
I’ve never felt a love so strong and will continue to bring that feeling into all of the other areas of my life.
