We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zae C a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you as a business owner?
I would have to say my experience in every previous field has impacted the way I run my business. For started I used to work retail at a shoe store. There I learned how to calculate, distribute, and store inventory as well as point of sale tips. I also have managed offices In the dental field and this is where I can say my accountant as well as customer services skills gained great seasoning.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My Name is Alizé, I am 28 years old. From Chicago, Il Since a kid crafting has always been very important to me. As a adult it’s easy to lose sight of what made you happy as a kid! So for me Zaes Remnants it’s what keeps me youthful; mentally.
I offer a range of products from Waistbeads, Custom Pillow, Planters, anklets, nose cuffs etc. I aim to always have something new unique and different to offer.
I love to make my customers feel that homely vibe that you can’t always find in the retail/ service industry.
I make products for the uniquely bold individual. I also keep something handy for my folks who aren’t as daring.
Everything Zaes Remnants has is handmade by me which makes it extremely special. I try my best to be personable and give each buyer a one on one experience they’ll never forget.
For my potential clients I’d like to say stay tuned this is only the beginning.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is my middle name lol, all jokes aside I started Zaes Remnants during Covid when every hurdle you could imagine was right in the middle of the road.
A time where Loneliness was at its peak, depression was taking over. And the world appeared to be a place we had all just discovered.
Instead of basking in sorrow I chose to stay busy, create, and take a leap of faith.
Quite frankly one of the best decisions of my life.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding my business isn’t that interesting of a story. But in a way it can be.
As I stated before I started Zaes Remnants during the pandemic.
The world was shut down and I had just been laid off from work.
My only source of income was unemployment which wasn’t much.
I decided to take a percentage from that and buy some beads online. So funding Zaes Remnants was from Workers insurance.
