We recently connected with Zach Sadetsky and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Zach thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
It first starts out at me playing college parties at 18. I had needed more time to dive in and learn other things when it comes to the craft of turntableism, but I was having fun providing a positive experience for people when I performed!!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For starters, it began with me using the DJ name, MemphiZ, I was offering an experience based as a someone keen in turntablism. It was important for me to be versatile as a performer, when it comes to clients requesting specific genres from me, I aim to please. After a few years, I went on a trip in Israel, and I was informed I looked like someone named Sharabii. The name stuck, and I chewed on it a bit longer. It was important for me to find a deeper meaning behind the name if I wanted to have a deeper way of relating and connecting with my listeners. I was also told the name Sharabii, when spelled like Sharabi, it translates to “drunk.” Suddenly, that’s when it hit me, and it wasn’t about the literal translation of the name. It was changing the name to explain an intoxicated perspective, the intoxicated feelings are derived from interacting with people and every other aspect of connecting with life. Having something that listeners can take away and add meaning or discover solutions on their journey means the world to me, at the end of the day, if what I can bring to the world makes someone else’s journey smoother, I would love that. Aside from providing a message and experience through my music production and the way I perform, I want to be able to continue providing the Sharabii experience through helping clients also resource new people in the scene, provide press coverage, as well as assist in event coordinating and promoting! With writing music for 5 years now, I’m really proud of how much this project has allowed me to connect with people deeper through my work, I hope to also be able to assist other music producers in production to help them grow on the journey. Fast forward to these couple of recent years, I’ve been able to headline and co headline events. This is something where, if 4 years ago you told me I would be headlining events, I wouldn’t believe you! It’s important for me to continue working hard and influencing others in spreading the musical and philosophical messages of Sharabii.
In your view, what can society do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think it’s important for people to realize how significant of a difference it makes when people are genuinely supporting your journey on social media platforms, a few interactions allows you to connect further and spread your reach, and this is something that would cost nothing to support an artist you want to see at a show! I think talking about how much the project has meant to you allows other people to open up and discover something that they may have needed to experience, but didn’t know how to go about it.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A really hard lesson I had to unlearn was when it came to growing in this journey, I had to realize that there can be negative downsides to it. You can trust the wrong people, end up in unfortunate scenarios or having to make difficult decisions, and as you’re growing and gaining more attention you have to maintain a conscious regard for your surroundings. I feel it was important to minimize the circle I created through my project, in order to keep up the growth and to not be misguided.
Even with having to minimize the circle I was surrounding myself with, it doesn’t take away from the connections I developed in the past, I still wish everyone the best, and I’ll always be able to maintain indifferential love and support, even though it means I have to do so from a distance, I still think there is room for everyone to succeed together, appropriately, but there needs to be a structure. Not everyone can be at the same table. People can still be in the scenario of eating around the table though! Only time will tell where this will lead and how the structure of this project will amplify or motivate people on their journey, I am confident that the growth that is made on myself, while connecting and working with new people in the community can only lead to beautiful things as long as I’m open to learning.
