We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zach Harper. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zach below.
Alright, Zach thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
The way I learned how to do photography and videography came was the same why I learned how to do most things, which is YouTube. And specifically watching other videos of creators who I looked up to as well as beginner basics for using a camera. And from there, I fine tuned my skills and I’m still learning every day on how to improve certain aspects of my craft.
I think the most essential skill when learning photography is to know how to make yourself stand out from the other people doing this as well. There are millions of photographers in the world but the most important skill and most crucial is to set yourself apart from the rest.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So my foot in the door into content creating was actually in high school. I received a camera as a gift and started making videos and taking pictures. And from there it’s sort of blossomed into a full blown passion of mine.
My brand right now is focused on EDC or everyday carry. Simply put it’s the items you carry with you on a daily basis to make life a bit easier. For a lot of people in this space it’s things like a pen, flashlight, and a pocket knife. All tools to help make every day tasks a bit more manageable.
What I’m most proud of right now is getting to work with some of my favorite companies and creators that for a long time was only a dream.
Something I want anyone to take away from this is that success is always determined by the pairing of hard work and passion. If you have the drive and care enough about a topic or idea, you can have success as long as you put in the work to make it happen.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The reason I started all of this was to potentially turn this into a business and something that I could do full time. I’ve always loved the idea of being my own boss and hope that through this I can make it a reality.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started with a very simplistic set up for making my social media content. Everything I did from Instagram to YouTube was all done from my iPhone (taking and editing photos, filming videos and editing them at the same time). And it was a pretty slow process and one that I’m still working on. But I think the thing that helped me and what would help anyone is to be genuine and authentic in anything that you post. Don’t try to be anything you’re not and just be you, because at the end of the day, that’s why people follow you and come back to your content.
