We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zach Friedensohn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Zach, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard

We communicate better then anyone in the industry and answer when the phone rings.

Zach, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Zach Friedensohn, and I’m not your typical General Contractor.

I’ve been immersed in the world of construction since 2013 when I graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business/real estate. From that moment, my journey has been one of relentless dedication to the craft, my clients, and the vision of G&R Construction.

My passion for construction was ignited right after graduation, diving headfirst into the industry. I started by managing subcontractors at apartment complexes on capital projects although I wasn’t afraid to get my hands dirty in the field and was often doing the work myself. It was this hands-on experience that laid the foundation for my future success.

In 2019, I took the leap and co-founded my first construction company, where my partner and I achieved remarkable success. Building on this experience, I decided to venture out on my own and established G&R Construction.

My mission for G&R Construction is simple: I show up. I’m reliable, organized, and committed to transparent communication. I’ve seen the frustration that can arise when contractors disappear midway through a project, leaving clients in the lurch. That’s not me. Your peace of mind is my priority.

With a strong business background, I bring a unique perspective to general contracting. I’m more than just skilled at construction; I understand the business side, which sets me apart. I believe in personal connections, so I meet with clients in person for consultations and kickoff meetings, ensuring we’re on the same page every step of the way.

Customer service is at the core of everything I do. I’m always looking for ways to make your experience smoother and better. You can trust me to be reliable and responsive – I answer calls, emails, and texts promptly because your needs matter.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

We were pulling out a HELOC to start the business and my wife was crying at the closing table because she thought it was a massive mistake. I looked at her and said, “Abby I need you to sign this in order to close on this loan. I am telling you we will look back at this and 5 years and it will be our story to success”. And she signed. I will never forget how she was crying at that closing table thinking the bank was going to take our house.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Construction is reciprocal. I made a mistake after I had a good year thinking I could grow this by myself and spent funds on traveling with the family and buying unnecessary things because I thought the calls were never going to stop. Well guess what – they did slow down and eventually stop. I made a decision if G-d gave me an opportunity to get back to where I was I would use those funds to grow my business and build a team to create endless opportunities and that’s exactly what I have done.
