We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zach Feemster a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Zach, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
It takes Relentless devotion. I’ve learned over time that figuring out what doesn’t work will streamline you to what does. After you figure out how to make that work for you the rest is up to you.

Zach, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up working in guitar shops and Playing in bands all my life. So meeting players of all styles & personality’s was natural.
It was in the guitar shop i met my long time friend Mike Zito. Over the years he’s helped out my previous bands with gigs or brought me on the road and really gave me valuable knowledge I’ve applied to the current outfit (Ole Lonesome) today.
All those guys I came up with in bands over the years happen to be my soul circle today.
We all have certain jobs we do with in the band and I have no clue where I’d be without them.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Never ever take yourself too seriously.
I feel very grateful that very early on I heard someone casually use the phrase “you gotta be dumb enough to have fun” and I’ve lived by that for years now.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Honing in on an idea or concept and watching it come to fruition a year later.
Putting all your energy into a big goal seems daunting looking at the big picture but baby steps and small victories add up.
