We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zach and Corinne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zach and Corinne below.
Zach and Corinne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Yes, we donate $1 for every Manitou Incline Coin sold to the non-profit Incline Friends. Incline Friends conducts trail maintenance on The Incline which was a great way for us to help assist in the preservation of the trail.
Zach and Corinne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Mountain Freedom Coins is a Veteran and Woman Owned Small Business out of Littleton, CO.
Mountain Freedom was created on the summit of Mount Bross during the pandemic of 2020. We completed the DeCaLiBron Loop, took our obligatory selfie, but wanted something more to commemorate our summit other than our cardboard sign made out of an empty Bubly box from home. Once we got off the mountain and back to cellphone reception, we began seeing what was out there. With Zach’s military background and Corinne”s In global health, a challenge coin just made sense! Five days later we were In a meeting with Crown Trophy and began creating artwork for our new Mountain Summit Coins.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Getting out to the Golden Farmers Market and base of the Manitou Incline to sell our showcase our products has been our best way to meet new customers. It is fun to share our story and make that personal connection with those that support us. We love to hear and share stories of our Mountain Freedom experiences.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
Our products are currently listed and sold on a Squarespace platform as well as Etsy. Both Ecommerce sites have been great for us since we started. Squarespace is where we receive most of our traction from. The platform is easy to add and update inventory. It links great with pirate ship, which is what we use to manage our shipping since we are running on multiple platforms. Etsy is also very easy to maintain as a shop. We have noticed an increase in sells on this platform recently. Etsy is a great platform if you are a small business owner. A lot of people search for products here just to support small businesses.
