We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zā Harris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zā below.
Zā, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Do not be afraid to take those risks. No, not the ones that make you look over your shoulders and that would leave you alone behind bars. It is always a better way. The kind of risks that you chance are the positive ones. You may have to spend your last, the “not knowing what will come next” or “will this plan even work in the long run?” these are the kind of risks I take. You will never know what is in store for you until you make that jump! I am still young and learning, but l have never been afraid to go after what I want in life. I am not ashamed to admit that I do not have it all together but is completely normal. Everything changes when you think deeply on how you can make your lives better, for you and your loved ones.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I strongly believe that my Team is the face of the future. I created my brand, Misfit $oldier LLC, in February 2022. Even though I am a veteran, I believe everyone is a soldier. We all go through battles of our own. If we are still here then we ALL have won. Unfortunately , some people close to me were not able to win their battle. It affected me and really made me think, “You never know what someone might go through in the day.” As I was growing up, I was dealing with a lot of anxiety. I know I might have a stronger will than other people and I use it to my advantage. My advantages made me proud to reach out and speak to other peers with similar experiences. I always have done things alone. Things do not have to be that way. My goal with Misfit $oldier LLC is to reach out and connect souls. We will unite them and reassure them that they are not alone in anything. We are all Misfit $oldiers. I am spreading this message through my clothing brand, for now. I would hope to expand to a community center in the future that will provide knowledge to all.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Usually when I meet all of my clients in person I build a connection. To create business, I believe there are a few steps to meeting and closing with a client. The stages are Introduction, Pitch, Presentation, and Close. Compliment your potential client. Let your client know who you are. Let your client know what you provide and how it will benefit their life. Let your client choose to be your client.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I made that hard choice of cutting out the things I love for the things I need. I knew I was going to be successful, I just did not know how to start. I always research how to improve my craft so I ended up buying equipment check by check. When all of my equipment and inventory came in, I hit the ground running. Now I have enough business that it is self funded. I have no sponsors and I have no endorsements. I am fully independent, with plans to expand in the future.
