We were lucky to catch up with Yvonne Victor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yvonne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
As a Life + Business Coach, I’m privileged to have the opportunity to guide people on their success journey! I get a front-row seat into the lives of those who seek success on their terms, and from this vantage point, I’ve noticed three similarities in those who achieve their goal:
Successful people have a vision. For them, a vision is not simply a few pictures on a posterboard or a journal entry. Their visions are alive. They inhabit the vision before it even happens. Their behavior, thoughts, decisions, and routines, are rooted in what is to be, not their current status. In short, they move like a winner, before the game has even started.
Successful people have a strategy. These are the people who take the time to do the research, study their opposition, run the plays, and create a plan. They know if they simply follow the map, they’ll end up in the right location. To the outsider, it looks as if they are “shooting from the hip” – it all looks so easy. However, only a choice few are aware of the immense amount of effort they committed to beforehand.
Lastly, successful people love a shortcut! They want success sooner rather than later! So, they collapse time by enlisting the help of those who know the route to success. They partner with experts, coaches, advisors, and mentors to help them avoid missteps and waste, as well as to hold them accountable for showing up daily on the field.
One of my favorite clients came to me after reading my book “Unstuck: The First Five Steps to Living Your Best Life”, and he needed to get back on track – as we all do from time to time. We started with creating a vision for the life he wanted to live. He was checking all of the boxes in his life, doing what society expects him to do. However, he desired a very different type of lifestyle. Once he was clear on his vision, we went about creating a strategy to get him from where he was to where he wanted to be. There were a lot of moving parts to be addressed in order for him to achieve his dream, but he did it. He mapped a strategy over a year that provided him with the exact steps he needed to take in order to hit the mark. Likewise, we made necessary connections with others who could support his progress in various ways. Today he is touring the world as a Celebrity DJ and absolutely loving his new life!
We can all be successful because success isn’t about luck or exceptionalism. Success is about a handful of principles that anyone can adopt and apply. It’s committing to them that makes a world of difference in your life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Yvonne’s trajectory to coaching was very much like her clients. After her children transitioned into their adult lives and moved to separate states to pursue their dreams, Yvonne started her own transformation. She was burned out on her career and found herself with a lot of free time. It was the perfect time for her to reimagine her career. She wanted work that fulfilled her, aligned with her strengths and expertise, and allowed her to explore her purpose of helping others succeed.
As a child, she didn’t have access to coaches and mentors. Many of her family members and friends were in the same boat, unable to provide the direction that she desperately needed. So, she forged her path without assistance. Although her “end game” was more than she could have ever imagined, learning by “trial and error” was an arduous task, as well as expensive and sometimes heartbreaking. Her mission is to help fast-track others on their journey. As a coach, she is able to help others sidestep blocks and create a fascinating life in a very strategic, timely, and cost-effective manner. They’re able to start seeing results within weeks, not years.
One of the best things about coaching is when my client has a breakthrough! In this profession, you generally meet people at a very stressful time in their lives. They come to me confused, depressed, overwhelmed, unhappy, lonely, unhealthy, and lost. However, I have the privilege of helping them turn that all around. It never fails that after a few sessions, they get their first breakthrough, and I’m lucky enough to be one of the first to hear about the new job, the restored marriage, the weight loss, and the renewed hope. I swear I cry every time!
The people who coach with me are well aware that they need help getting “unstuck” and reaching their goals. I don’t have to convince them of that. They’re ready to commit to the process 100% and make the investment in themselves. They have a particular pain point that they want to resolve immediately and completely, and they trust that I am the coach who can help them. Likewise, they appreciate my no-nonsense, nuts-and-bolts style of coaching. As a former corporate employee, I intimately understand their blocks and frustrations and have a step-by-step process to help them. I wish more people understood how life coaching could dramatically transform their lives.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
My former clients join my House of Champions after their first coaching sprint with me. They receive discounts, networking opportunities and are enrolled in a referral program that rewards them for each referral. Additionally, we provide an after-care program which encourages past clients to return for additional coaching, when they are ready to tackle new goals. But I think what sets me apart from other coaches is my sincere interest in their success. I always check in and support them through social media, a quick text message, or a good old-fashioned phone call. They are comforted knowing that I am always cheering for them on the sidelines.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I am a shy person by nature. Most people would say otherwise, but those closest to me know the truth. So, putting myself front and center on social media has been a thorn in my side. I’ve gone about it quite organically, learning along the way. I started with Facebook because I was familiar with that platform, and most of my family and friends were already on the platform, so it felt safe. I was able to see what resonated with them first.
Shortly thereafter, I started to see unfamiliar faces “Like, Share, and Follow” me. I find that when I am genuine, just shooting from the hip, emotions and all. People seem to like that. So, when I decided to tackle Instagram, I grew my audience even more by using my organic strategy of being real and giving great information.
Lastly, I included LinkedIn. This is definitely where I had to tackle imposter syndrome. Many of my former coworkers lived on this platform, and I questioned, “Who am I to tell these people what to do with their lives?” But those were the people I knew the best! They were exactly the people who could benefit from my services. So, I started to tailor content on that platform, to address the pain points that I knew were holding them back, as well as sharing the information in ways they would best receive it.
My advice to any business owner is to know your audience, provide valuable information, engage with people, and show up authentically. You can’t trick anyone into liking you or wanting your services, but you can show them why you’re the better option.
