We were lucky to catch up with Yvng Ajay recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yvng, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Growing up I always loved to play video games and I use to watch people who were popular make gaming content on YouTube. This was around like 2013 where vlogging wasn’t as popular as it is now. The people who I can remember that I watched a lot around that time were Faze Rug, Faze Adapt, Faze Apex and more. Basically I was just consuming so much gaming content and always wanted to do the same. So, in 2016 I started a gaming team called Bound Alliance on YouTube which didn’t last as long as I thought it would due to school, people leaving the team, etc. Keep in mind that I always had a dream of creating some type of content on YouTube. So fast forward to November 17, 2018 I posted my first video on my YouTube channel titled “Gatorade in windex bottle prank” and ever since I just kept going. Today which is November 30th I am at 26.8k subscribers. I believe I can make it big with YouTube but the grind has definitely been hard. I always told myself once I started this channel that I will never quit, so let’s see where this takes me.
Yvng, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who don’t know me, I always wanted to have some type of fame. I know having a lot of fame isn’t always good in everybody eyes but I always felt deep down inside that I would do the right things with it. This is why my passion for YouTube will never go away because you can do so much with being popular on YouTube. The simple thing that sets me apart from everyone else is me being myself. How can you be like anyone else if you are always being yourself? So far in my journey I am proud that I haven’t quit! Not that I want to but YouTube isn’t easy and there are a lot of people who always want to become one but never start, or start and quit early. As you can see I am only at 26.8k subs and I’ve been doing this for over 3 years now. A lot of people might look at me as a failure and others may think that I am doing good but at the end of the day everyone journey is different and I have to keep going. I feel deep down inside that I can become remembered for generations through my content and I am going to prove to myself and the world. Also, anyone that follows my journey with YouTube, I want them to be inspired and know that anything is possible. Something I always kept in mind but never said was that I feel like everyone should be their true self and a lot of people don’t do that today. I feel this is why a lot of kids grow up now trying to be something they not. If everyone kept it real and didn’t put on a fake persona then everyone would follow, but since a lot of the world isn’t being their self, we have a lot of people following in their footsteps.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Since I do YouTube and my goal everyday is to grow as big as I can. What helped me build my reputation is my consistency, posting good quality videos, and interacting with the people who support what I am doing. When you are consistent in what you do then people are going to take you more seriously. Here is an analogy: going to the gym 5 times a week instead of once every 2 weeks. Who do you think is putting in more work? What I am saying is that people who watch what you do can read your energy, so I feel that the more they see me post the more they believe I am actually trying to be something with what I am doing. Don’t get me wrong, consistency is not always going to save you but I always keep it real and listen to those who support me because I wouldn’t be where I am at today without them. It’s a lot more to this question but that would be a lot of typing.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A quick short story on a time where I had to pivot in what I do is basically every new year we go into. Every year I always try to do better than what I did the previous year, and I have been doing that. I feel like that’s a big part in what keeps me going also. To be specific, every year I have did YouTube I gain way more views than the last year, make more money, and gain a bigger audience. If there was a year where I was to do less than the previous than I am doing something wrong. So after my 2nd year I feel like that’s when I made a pivot because I got my first viral video, finally got monetized, etc. If I want to be successful then I have to out do myself every time. It might sound like a lot but it really isn’t. 2023 is on the way and when it comes I feel like it’s going to be one of my most biggest and important years in my journey because I have learned a lot every year, so I a m going to implement new ideas and better work ethic.
