Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yvette Valdenegro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yvette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Starting YG Collaborations was not an overnight decision; it was a process that required careful consideration and planning. Geovanna, my business partner, and I had established businesses, so we couldn’t abandon our income streams to jump into something new. We had the advantage of a strong network in our existing industry, and our partnership was already recognized. However, transitioning into coaching—a field still gaining traction then—was a significant pivot. Back then, coaching wasn’t as mainstream as it is today. Although the industry has since boomed, driven by shifts like COVID and the rise of remote work.
We spent countless hours on strategy calls, diving into books, and taking courses to ensure we launched correctly. We focused on understanding the digital landscape, learning how to market workshops and classes online, and implementing strategies from our coach. Our approach has always been to take calculated risks, experiment with new ideas, and prioritize solving our clients’ problems while providing nurturing care. We molded our vision with each step, moving forward with intention and a commitment to excellence.
Yvette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey into the coaching industry began with a profound personal transformation. For years, I operated as a lone ranger in my previous business, taking on everything myself and making things more complicated than needed. I had molded my mindset around self-reliance, insufficient time, and scarcity of money motivations, but this pattern was a mindset that ultimately led to unnecessary struggles. It wasn’t until I confronted and overcame these self-induced obstacles that I gained clarity and a renewed sense of purpose. This transformation ignited my passion for helping others navigate and transcend their mental barriers.
At YG Collaborations, we specialize in empowering women to break through the deep-seated mindsets that can hinder personal and professional growth. We address the top three obstacles that often lead to business failures: our relationship with ourselves, time, and money. Helping our clients rebuild these foundational relationships brings joy and SUCCESS back into their lives, businesses, and relationships. What sets us apart is our holistic approach—combining practical tools with deep, introspective work to create lasting change. I’m most proud of our impact in guiding women to overcome challenges and flourish in every aspect of their lives. Seeing and experiencing a life, relationship, business, and family grow is priceless.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building our reputation within the market has been rooted in two fundamental principles: networking and serving our community of women. We believe in personal connections, so we actively network and engage with other women in Houston, creating meaningful relationships that extend beyond business. Our commitment to service is evident through our leadership roles on various boards and committees, where we work to uplift and support women in our community.
Philanthropy is also a core part of our mission. YG Collaborations proudly supports The Giving Gown, a local organization that annually provides prom gowns to underserved high school girls. We also coach these young women during this event, inspiring them to think beyond high school and envision their futures as vital, empowered individuals. Additionally, we’ve launched the YGC Grant Collective, providing quarterly grants to women—business owners, corporate leaders, or stay-at-home moms. These grants are thoroughly vetted, ensuring they support viable and impactful business ventures. This commitment to networking, leadership, and giving back has been instrumental in building our strong reputation within the market.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been centered around genuine connection and nurturing relationships. We prioritize creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone we encounter—whether they are long-time clients, newcomers, or guests at our events. By hosting in-person events, we foster community and provide valuable experiences that resonate with our audience. During our coaching calls, we deliver expert guidance with care and dedication, but when it comes to our social events, we mix in lighthearted fun and plenty of laughter. We practice what we preach—finding and enjoying time for ourselves beyond work, and we bring that balance to everything we do.
Our commitment to serving the community and being women of our word has also been crucial. We strive to connect with people in a personable, down-to-earth way, always staying authentic in our interactions. This authenticity and reliability have helped us build trust and lasting relationships, organically growing our clientele.
