We were lucky to catch up with Yvette Samick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvette, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be a successful photographer is to know who your clients are. My clients are Dog Moms!
As a Dog Mom, I understand the relationship and incredible joy that dogs bring to us.
When I branded my business towards Dog Moms, I was concerned at first this might be risky to market only to Dog Moms. Then I realized that is exactly who I want to build my business and photography career around.
Listening to my clients talk about their pups always brings a smile to my face. Hearing the cute stories, little details, and love in their voices gets me so excited to give them the images they are looking for.
Yvette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always had a camera in my hand since high school. As I started my photography journey, I photographed everything from people to landscapes and everything in between. I am very glad I had the opportunity to attend many photography workshops all over the country and even Italy.
I slowly started to realize that my passion was in photographing animals. I loved all the workshops that I took that revolved around wild animals with beautiful landscapes.
I had taken what I considered to be snapshots of my dogs. Then it dawned on me one day that I could make stunning portraits with my dogs in beautiful locations.
I started Too The Dogs Photography over 9 years ago to realize my dream of being a dog photographer. I am so grateful to all the wonderful dog parents I have met who made my business successful.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Knowing I have captured the sweetness and love with my photography is the most rewarding aspect. I capture the soul and essence of each pup I photograph.
I photograph puppies to senior dogs and make every session special.
When my clients tell me they are having a hard time choosing images because they love them all it makes me so fulfilled and know this is what I am meant to do.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
SEO, SEO, and SEO.
I realized for me that hiring the best SEO expert I could find was worth every penny for my business.
I only photograph dogs making my business very niche. Ensuring my clients are able to find me in an online search is key to my success.
Almost 95% of my clients find me through Google search.
