Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yvette Gavin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yvette , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new firm – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
My first client was my desired corporate client. I told everyone I knew that I was going to provide training for this client and people I told began to introduce me to people who either worked at this company or were vendors for this company. These people became leads and I followed each one from phone calls, office visits, to lunches and dinners I really could not afford.
All of the networking paid off because I received an invitation to submit training proposal during the invitation-only RFP (Request for Proposal) process. I submitted five training proposals, and one was selected. This one-day training was valued at $10,000.00. It felt amazing!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I’m a certified John C. Maxwell speaker, coach, trainer and John’s leadership books have shaped my leadership and business philosophy. I desire each day to add value. In every conversation and every service and product delivery, I aim to add value. The book I recommend the most is Everyone Communicates but Few Connects by John Maxwell.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
