We were lucky to catch up with Yvette Amakor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yvette thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success to me is never given, it is Earned. Everyone wants to be successful, but only one percent of people want to put in the work. It takes prayers, hardwork, committment and consistency if you want to succeed. Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship, so if you’re looking to succeed, be prepared. it’s not going to be easy but it definitely is Attainable. Another thing you need is Hunger! you need that drive, you need that fire, you need that passion. If you don’t have it, you literally lose interest in your craft and faith in yourself for every time you fail. And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that failure cannot be avoided in your journey to success so try hard to conquer your fear of failure or rejection and make sure you stay close to God.
Quitting my full time job for a career i love was hard! I went through a period when i had nothing but that fire, i am not a quitter and if I had the courage to quit my job, I was going to see this career path through till I get my breakthrough. i am not where I would like to be, but definitely far from where I started. and that keeps me going every day. If you’re reading this, I dare you to take that bold step and make that big move. I promise it’s going to be worth it..
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Yvette Amakor, I am a real estate specialist in Houston TX . I help my clients sell , buy and lease their dream homes and specialize in All parts of Houston Texas and surrounding areas. Personally, I thrive in my business by making the process extremely easy for my clients and my previous and current clients will back me up on that. It’s never just about a deal for me, I put myself in my clients shoes when assisting them all the time, This is why I have lasting relationships with my clients and tons of referrals!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I had to Unlearn is “never see your self through the eyes of people and never listen to naysayers because everyone has in individual Journey in life. Earlier this year, I had my very first million dollar listing, as exciting as it was, it came with a lot of pressure to sell and I also had a time line from my seller. This home had been on the market with a lot of other agents who where unable to sell it so I knew for sure I would not be the agent who did not sell! All odds where against this sale and I even had people tell me it was not going to sell. But you know, I am relentless and I never back down on a challenge so i ignored all the naysayers and I put in the work! The home eventually sold in good time and my sellers where extremely satisfied. You do not need validation from anyone but God, so if you are of the opinion that you need some form of confirmation from people to make it in life, you need to unlearn that as well. All you need is you.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Sure, Back in 2021, I had a goal to hit a certain number by the end of the year, half way into the year and I was still on zero. At this point I was doing everything, marketing, door knocking, cold calling, paid ads and more but Business was not just kicking in. It was a rollercoaster of feeling sad and questioning if I was doing something wrong or reminding myself that sometimes business is slow and all you have to do is keep pushing! I chose the latter and kept on going, by Dec 31st of 2021, I had hit my goal and that truly felt Amazing. My advise and to staying resilient would be to block out the noise and find your focus. Distractions will come, but your ability to take a step back, breathe and ignore these distractions will help fuel your resilience and eventually yield good results.
