We recently connected with Yuwei Li and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yuwei, thanks for joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I love painting and I chose to major in painting in college. I had no intention of being a professional artist, and my first client came to me by chance. It was my first client who inspired me to continue to develop my painting career to now. Painting gives me a lot of pleasure and it is a channel for me to express my feelings. I offer the viewer my perspective on the world and my understanding of it through my work, and I think painting is a wonderful thing for me.
Yuwei, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an artist and a designer. I met my first client through a chance meeting and also sell my work at my various art exhibitions. Most of my work is about surrealistic urban themes. There are also oil paintings about life in Tibet, China. Of course, I am also using Chinese ink to express western urban life. I like to use different materials to express different subjects, it makes me immersed in it. My works are very personal and are suitable for decoration in museums, private clubs, etc., in addition to private collections. I am most proud of the impact, creativity and vitality of my work, which I think no other artist can express. I hope that more people will pay attention to my works, because everyone can find themselves in my work.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As an artist, I think the most rewarding thing is being recognized for my work. I enjoy having collectors who love and marvel at my work. In addition to that, I enjoy the process of creating my work, and immersing myself in it and exploring the infinite possibilities is God’s best gift to me.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I think that the publicity of the Internet is my best source of clients. Many collectors have seen my work on the internet and contacted me via email to collect my work. I’ve also made a lot of new friends in the process, which is very exciting.
