We recently connected with Yuvraj Singh and have shared our conversation below.
Yuvraj , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started my musical journey in middle school, initially drawn to electronic music. My passion for sound design and production led me to pursue a dual major at Berklee College of Music, where I studied Music Production & Engineering and Electronic Production & Design, specializing in Audio Post-Production. My education provided a strong foundation, but I also learned a lot through hands-on experience working on various projects, from film scoring to sound design for video games. Collaborating with other musicians, producers, and engineers further enhanced my skills.
In hindsight, focusing more on real-world projects and internships early on would have accelerated my learning process. Practical experience is invaluable in this field, and while formal education is important, nothing beats the lessons learned from actual work scenarios. Additionally, seeking mentorship from experienced professionals could have provided insights and guidance, helping me avoid some common pitfalls and learn more efficiently.
I feel that being able to make connections and interact with people are some of the most essential skills in my field, even more important than learning the technical side of music production, sound, and audio. Building personal relationships within the industry and effectively communicating are crucial for success and opening doors to new opportunities.
One of the main obstacles was the steep learning curve associated with mastering the technical aspects of audio production. It took time to become proficient with the concepts of mixing and mastering in music. Another challenge was balancing the creative and technical sides of the work, ensuring that the final product was both artistically satisfying and technically sound. Limited access to high-quality equipment and resources during the early stages of my career also posed a challenge, but I overcame this by making the most of the tools available to me and continuously seeking out new learning opportunities.

Yuvraj , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi there! I’m Yuvraj Singh, but you might know me as CurioCity. I’m a re-recording mixer, music producer, audio engineer, and sound designer. My journey into the world of music and sound started in middle school when I discovered a passion for electronic music. This fascination led me to pursue a dual major at Berklee College of Music in Music Production & Engineering and Electronic Production & Design, with a specialization in Audio Post-Production.
I provide a wide range of audio-related services, including music production, sound design for films and video games, audio post-production, and mixing in various formats like Quad, 5.1, and Dolby Atmos. My work involves creating original music, re-recording mixing, audio repair, and post-production audio engineering. I also specialize in mixing vocals, cleaning dialogues, adding sound effects, and scoring for films and commercials.
What I would say is unique about me is my ability to learn and adapt to situations quickly, making me versatile and resourceful in my work. I have knowledge and expertise in various fields of audio, whether it is related to music production for songs, sound design for visual media, or audio post-production for films, TV series, and theaters. I strive to stay updated and ensure that my work meets the highest standards of quality.
One of the problems I often solve for my clients is improving the clarity and quality of their audio recordings. Whether it’s removing background noise, enhancing vocal tracks, or creating immersive soundscapes, I focus on delivering a polished and professional final product. I also help artists and producers bring their musical visions to life, from concept to final mix and master.
I’m particularly proud of my work on various high-profile projects, including mixing music in Dolby Atmos, and the audio post-production for the TV series ‘Loyalty.’ These projects showcased my ability to handle tight deadlines and complex audio requirements while maintaining top-notch quality.
For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want you to know that I am committed to delivering exceptional audio experiences. My brand, CurioCity, represents a dedication to creativity, innovation, and excellence in sound. In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
With platforms like Instagram and TikTok becoming the biggest hubs for marketing and promotion, I feel that there’s immense potential for artists to reach new audiences. However, one of the challenges is that true talent often gets hidden simply because it doesn’t reach the right people.
As someone who deeply appreciates music and the art behind it, I believe that supporters can play a crucial role in helping upcoming artists gain the recognition they deserve. Sharing songs with friends or even just taking a few minutes to listen can make a huge difference. It’s a very small act of support that can have a big impact on an artist’s journey.
Therefore, just simple share or recommendation can help artists break through the noise and help them achieve the recognition they deserve!

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think non-creatives might struggle to understand the true purpose behind why creatives choose to pursue the difficult, non-linear path over the comfort of a regular earning job. Being a creative means making sacrifices that not many people are willing to make. It’s not just about the financial instability or the uncertainty of success, it’s about a deeper, more intrinsic drive to create something meaningful.
As a creative, you constantly worry about making money, but there’s an even greater satisfaction in knowing that you are creating something unique that you can share with the rest of the world. The ability to see the influence your work has on people and their lives is incredibly fulfilling. This impact, whether it’s evoking emotions, inspiring others, or providing solace, makes the sacrifices worthwhile.
It’s this sense of purpose and the potential to touch lives through our work that keeps us going. Non-creatives might not fully grasp this sacrifice, but it’s the core of why we do what we do. Seeing our work resonate with others and knowing we’ve made a difference, no matter how small, is the ultimate reward.
On the technical side, it might be hard for non-creatives to truly understand what it takes to master an art form when you are on your own and there isn’t much in the books or anywhere else about what you do. As much as there is theory, it is all based on intuition, what feels right, and dealing with the feeling of not having a definite answer for what you create.
