We recently connected with Yusuf (JP) Saleeby, MD and have shared our conversation below.
Yusuf (JP), thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
Started my medical career back in 1992 as an Emergency Room doctor in what we call Mainstream Medicine. In 1998 I realized there was more to medicine then I was taught in school & residency. I embarked on a curriculum I developed and learned over 20-years the ”right way” to deliver healthcare. Over two-decades I morphed a system into what I call reformed-Functional Medicine (rFxMed). We are in dire need of a healthcare fix for our broken down sick-care system. My team at CHM has developed a model that is sustainable and gives practitioners burnout breaking life-work balance. It is also profitable and easy to scale up. From soup to nuts we provide assistance from clinical support to business platforms to jump start a new micro-office FxMed practice.
Avoid the bumps and bruises I suffered (without any playbook) during my transformation/transition from MSM to the other side by using us to get started safely and smartly without huge expenditures in capital. Our motivation is to help restructure healthcare and this is priority one.
www.Priority-Health.us is a new landing page dedicated to providing assistance to practitioners.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
Since I was 5-years old I knew I was destined to be a physician. My father worked in the pharmaceutical industry and we lives a stones throw from the American University of Beirut Medical Center. In high school I had two science teachers that honed my interest in science and medicine.
After Med School I embarked on a journey to coalesce traditional western mainstream medicine with alternative and holistic views on administering care. From 1998 until present I remain a student of integrative medicine and have developed a system (model) to make sure physicians can be trusted again and for providers to be #1 patient advocates.
My team and I practice 21st century personalized precision medicine in the paradigm of functional medicine. FxMed is a way to seek out root cause and not plaster over with drugs to treat symptoms. We address root cause chronic issues head on and bring our patients back into balance and wellness. This is in the long term sustainable (financially) and the best way to deliver medicine. It will save our patients thousands of dollars in the long term. The investment in their health at the onset has a huge return of investment (ROI).
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back in time I would have started the FxMed journey much sooner and given up on my 20-year ER career much sooner. I believe a lot of my youth was wasted in pursuing a form of MSM medicine that had many short comings. I believe If I started the more holistic paradigm 10 years earlier I would be further in my career and with establishing like-minded providers in their centers to this point.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The most powerful tool I had in my tool box for advancing my reputation and establishing myself as a leader in the region (NC & SC) was my advocacy to my patients. I took a significant cut in pay leaving MSM ER medicine to pursue the proper healthcare delivery system I am in now.
That comes across to my patients (and my staff) as a sacrifice with much to gain in the long run. The dedication to getting and keeping my patients well speaks volumes and now our marketing is no word of mouth that trumps what organic searches on GOOGLE bring in as new patients.
Aligning with organizations such as A4M, IFM, AAMG and ILADS as medical societies as well as with the FLCCC with regard to our current pandemic have furthered my reputation as a top notch provider.
