Yura, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission the drives your brand?

Our mission is to create, shape, and restore the landscape and urban environments for the sustainable continuation of life. With every project, we aim to live in balance with nature, close the cycle of clean water, fresh air, ready to plant soil, and preserve vital resources for future generations to come. WHY?
As a global community, we are facing an existential crisis caused by global warming and carbon dioxide emissions, the urban heat island effect, ozone layer depletion, rapid extinction of wildlife species and decreasing of biodiversity, pollution of the world ocean by microplastic and heavy metals, Arctic ice melting, and the projected increase of world water levels. New viruses, bacteria, and diseases threaten human life.

As a studio, we approach landscape design, urban architecture, and garden development differently. We understand the impact our work can have on the earth and the life that surrounds our projects. That’s why we tailor our projects to take this impact into account, and we minimize it for the good of our collective environment at all times throughout our work.

We are a start-up that was initially established and remains based in San Diego, California. So far, our holistic ideas on landscape development have been translated into a wide range of projects across the globe. From home gardens to large-scale city park projects, institutional undertakings, to company developments – we are equally committed to creating the intended outcome for our clients, no matter their environment, budget, or vision for the project at hand.

At LASD, we know that humans are an intrinsic part of nature, and with that, we have a responsibility to protect and sustain our environment – even when we work to alter it. With all that we do, it is up to us whether we destroy life or create it in harmony with the vision of our projects.

We created our studio to combine nature with art innovatively as landscaping is an art form, an expression of beauty, a form of care for our surroundings. We transform something with hidden beauty into a landscape that appeals to not only your vision but all your senses at once.

Depending on the project, we work to integrate different architectural styles and representations. For example, so far, we have curated projects that harmoniously combine baroque, Spanish revival, or postmodernism into the land. No matter your vision, we are always open to new design styles and ideas. To us, when it comes to our surroundings, our universal landscape – everything is possible.

As our studio grows from strength to strength, we are consistently looking for further collaborations with individuals and companies that share our view and mindset around the land and earth, combined with how we can sustain and transform it at once.

Hi, My name is Yura Lotonenko, I am from Ukraine. I have a dream and big mission in my life – to make this world a better place for the next generations to live.

in 2018 I established LASD Studio in San Diego and since then I’ve been supporting the growth of the company. LASD Studio stands for Landscape Architecture, Sustainablity and Design.

Not surprising, LASD Studio is nothing more than reincarnation of my personal internal voice as a Landscape Architect.

Yes, I am a landscape architect. urrently I hold 2 master degrees in Garden Design, and Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. I have been lucky to find a self-realization with creation of amazing gardens in Holland, Denmark, Ukraine, France, and The United States, mostly in California.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

The true story is that you don’t need initial capital to begin a journey with your dream.

You just have to start and universe will unfold the oppotrunities.

I believe, if you really wish the best for this planet, your ideas will be heard by many people in this world.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

I believe, we come to this world with the unique values.
Each of us is different and unique.

Also, each of us knows exactly what they want to do in life. I suggest everyone in their team create a model when people do what they love to do in synergy with each others.
