We recently connected with Yunho Park and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yunho, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
When I worked for a company or freelance job, I didn’t have to pay much attention to the incidental things once I did my job faithfully. I was in a position to care for trees, not forests, so I was able to focus more on my personal life after finishing my work. In other words, I had the capacity to devote my energy and care about every little thing.
But now that I’m doing my own business, I think my attitude toward people and situations has changed a lot because I’m in a position where I have to do not only my work but also everything. I had to be able to cover branding, marketing, sales, accounting as well as design, which is my main job.
As a result, I naturally don’t waste my emotions on trivial things and lose the energy to devote my time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m a motion designer, and also running my own business called “Chigong” in Korea. Before that, I studied motion media design at SCAD, art school in Savannah, Georgia and worked for many design studios in the states after graduation. I worked on big clients such as Samsung, Hyundai, Honda, Facebook, and Netflix series to name a few.
Every time I complete a project with a team is a moment I’m proud of in my career. Collaboration is an essential part of being a motion designer. Although working with a team may be both mentally and physically exhausting, coming together to look at a finished product lifts the weight off our shoulders. It’s knowing that you’ve accomplished something big together and as a whole, that makes it so fun and worth it.
After I came back to Korea, I’ve started my own business dealing with eco-friendly products including my design. “Chigong” itself means a healing place for the Earth. It all began from the simple thought of producing toothbrush with nonpolluting materials. The planet Earth is suffering from toothbrushes being discarded easily everyday.
A research claims that one person ‘consumes’ around 1 credit card worth of microplastics through breathing, resulting in microplastics being found in the lungs and blood. While harmful plastic products shorten the lifespan of the earth, Chigong focused on the production by designing well with environmentally friendly materials – so that convenience doesn’t destroy the Earth.
Starting from eco-friendly toothbrush production, Chigong is growing in a direction to offer many more upcycling and sustainable lifestyle products.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Team communication is one of the most important aspect of collaboration. When I worked for companies or did freelance job, I didn’t have to pay much attention to the incidental things once I finished what I was asked to do. I was in a position to care for trees, not forests.
But since I’m doing my own business, I’m in a position where I have to do not only my work but also everything.
I have to be able to cover branding, marketing, sales, accounting, and design so that communication with each one in each team is the fundamental thing that I have to do. It develops trust, and also helps to avoid miscommunication. It also helps employees stay engaged in the workplace.
Also, positive attitude is important in the workplace cause team members are more likely to be influenced by the way of my speaking and behavior. I’ve been repeating this sentence – it doesn’t matter if you don’t take issue – a lot lately. so I consciously try not to put my energy into useless, meaningless things. That makes me stronger inside.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I think it’s important to identify your target audience before starting social media. When I started “Chigong”, I wanted to create a bonding culture among customers and want them to feel the “Value consumption”. The existing buyers used to be married women with children. Through “Chigong”, I want to expand to the younger generation of 2030 who were not very interested in oral hygiene products. As I paid attention not only to the function but also to the vintage design, I would like to recommend our products to young people,
The definition of hipness among 1834 generation is unique personality. The concept of kitsch + retro + vintage, which once passed by as a trend, is presented with the unique hipness and personality of our brand, and the ‘Chigong’ created in this way will be a daily item that will change your space more emotionally.
