We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yung Brince$s a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yung thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have honestly always had a love for fashion, music, arts, design, & performing, but it was always something I kept hidden. Whenever you bring up wanting to pursue an artistic profession, people often look at you like you are crazy, but the encouraging ones look at you with love. I have always had a love for the creative arts. I have been sketching & designing for as long as I remember. I get my love for fashion and beauty from my idol, my mother. My parents had me taking piano lessons for as long as I remembered and with being the grandson of a Bishop, and son of a Pastor. I had no choice but to sing in the church choir. When I got my first iPhone I could not stop taking pictures whether it was being in them or being behind the camera; so that is where the love for modeling came from. I decided to take my love for the creative arts more professionally in college when doors for styling started opening when I served my time as a member of my modeling organization Allure Modeling Troupe at Tennessee State University. I head styled my first fashion show at Fisk University; where the main goal of the fashion show was to educate on HIV/AIDs and how much of a serious issue it is within the African American & Latinx LGBTQIA+ Community. I knew after the success of the show that I can see myself seriously pursuing the creative arts professionally. I then decided to join Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity Inc. to help gain a sense of how to turn my passions into a business. Once I graduated college in 2020 and moved back home to Cincinnati. and spending some time with myself, I had more of sense of how I wanted to pursue a career within this competitive, life changing, & challenging field. There have been ups and downs but the ups outweigh the downs. You have to take this profession and life in general day by day. If you truly cease everyday as your last, then there is no way you will not reach the status and lifestyle you want.
– Yung Brince$s
Yung, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Yung Brince$s; a musician, performer, entrepreneur, designer, photographer, model, and community activist. I see myself as a creative guru, I help my clients find themselves through the arts. My sense of self, life, religion, beauty, and fashion is what sets me apart of everyone, There is no like me and there will never will be. There will be copies but I am forever the OG. I want to say a couple of my proudest moments since pursuing the creative arts professionally would have to be Head Styling my first fashion at Fisk University when I was attending Tennessee State University and performing as a rapper in my home city in both 2021 and 2022. The main things I want my supporters to know about my brand and my artistry is that at the core of it is me. Anything that I put out and represent is a representation of me. I want to bring light to this world. I want to bring beauty and restore happiness. I want to bring the inner star out of everyone. I am a reflection of the Most High and my art and brand represents that.
