We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yung Bala On Da Beat. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yung Bala below.
Yung Bala , appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful you have to have patience, persistence, & consistency.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Yung Bala On Da Beat is an American industry producer who’s worked with big time artist like Snoop Dogg, Tyler Perry, Bryson Tiller, Hotboy Turk, Young Money, Young Buck, Kurupt, Baby S, Martellus Bennett, Drag-On, Ms. Toi, Keak Da Sneak, Fox Sports, Universal Music Group, Oxygen, & many more.. I got in the industry because I was tired of hearing the same watered down music.. I started off as a full time artist but in 2010 I decided to take on producing as a full time job. I felt like the industry needed a new sound, so I created one. Being a music producer takes a lot of discipline because you have to adjust to different timezones while working with artist all over the world, you have to work countless hours just to build your brand, & you have to understand/study the industry even when you don’t feel like doing it. Producing is a piece of me but I also manage, write, develop artist, and etc. I feel like you have to understand it all in order to be the best. What sets me apart from others is, I can produce all genres and my work ethic speaks for itself. I’m most proud of turning my dream into my reality & now I’m able to help artist daily solve there problems..
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When I graduated from high school I signed my first contract and it turned out to be a bad contract. I was told by many people to never trust nobody and get a lawyer to over look your contract. I signed the contract and didn’t listen to anybody and it cost me years of my career to get out of that contract.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When I was working in the logistics field I always worked on music right after I got home.. At the time I was a artist, so I was spending a lot of money on recording, beats, features, promo, etc. At the same timing, I produced a hit song called “Dance Like A Stripper” & the song blew up.. After that I realized I can create a new sound and I started making beats and networking. Years later I created a sound that got noticed and started making money. Once I realized I can pay my bills and have freedom, I quit my job and focused on producing.
