We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yun Gluv a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Yun , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Having my music monetized and distributing to online stores has been a huge help, along with Paid performances. Honestly of course none of it happened overnight and it took some time to build, where I could make money from this full-time and somewhat live off of it. But the investment process went from paying for Studio time etc. which led to marketing finances, which led to finding my own road expenses. A major mile stone for myself is actually being the first music artist from Memphis Tennessee to be featured on Dirty Glove Bastard’s (Off The Porch) interview series. In 2020. Also having my music played in different states and cities also meeting with DJs and personality hosts. Had I done these things sooner it would have sped up the process but I did a lot of procrastinating and assuming people would just gravitate to my music with no proper Management
Yun , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well myself I am a music artist/rapper from Memphis Tennessee. I’ve been in magazines, News interview, music festivals, performing at Shelby County schools and working with Inner-city youth, where we provided back to school products. Whether it was private or public events, I’ve given my services and provided nourishments as well as entertainment. One of the most important endeavors i had was working with Saint Jude, Which I hosted a fundraiser.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember right when COVID-19 came on the scene and music artist had to take a hiatus. Myself I was in no position to do such a thing because I knew my music had to be heard at all cost. I remember being in Atlanta around the time and I got sick but I had to be in Mississippi for an appearance at a radio station. Long story short I had to overcome the illness and knock the interview out
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Stop comparing unsigned music artist to artist who are signed with million dollar deals. Entertainers take a hard hit in this era of entertainment due to technology. It has to be a positive energetic capacity that would allow artist to flourish
