Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yulia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yulia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
From a young age, from the age of 6, I knew that my life and career would be connected with music. And so it turned out that all these years I performed, wrote music, taught piano and music theory to children and adults, and it always filled me with joy from the process and the result. I can’t say that music changed my life, because I have not parted with it for long since my early childhood. Would my life be different without it? Yes, but it would not be me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My interest in music was noticed by my parents when they heard me singing my own melodies. I was five years old. A chance event, planned from above, helped me find a teacher. It happened on the city beach on the river bank – my mother got into a conversation with another mother whose daughter was the same age as me, and this woman turned out to be a piano teacher (Mrs. Gvozdeva). She remained my teacher for all the years of my studies at a specialized music school, and my musical career began with her music lessons.
I loved playing music and picking out my favorite melodies on the piano. In the second grade, I wrote down my first piece of music. Having studied a lot of classical music I certainly took a lot of inspiration from it and being almost completely immersed in classical music for many years had a big influence on my musical taste.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love the process of creating songs. This aspect in itself is already full of inspiration and value. I feel like I am using the talent that God gave me. Of course, seeing the end result and sharing it with people is another very pleasant stage of creativity. When music is received with joy and brings a good mood – this feeling is impossible to forget, it motivates for new projects.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The purpose is to use what I have to glorify God, express my emotions and feelings, find beauty in harmonies and melodies and share it with people.
