We were lucky to catch up with Yuki Tojo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Yuki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
It all started while I was in the Army. Working out, and improving my physical fitness levels/health was my growing passion while enlisted. Once I got out, I had been in various different physical labor jobs (oilfield, construction) realizing I was just working to work. I finally realized one day working on a hot day on the construction site that I didn’t want to be doing that anymore, that I wanted to do something that I was truly passionate about. That’s when I enrolled into personal training school. Once I finished the program I realized I still wanted to stand out amongst my peers by offering something else to my clients, so I looked into the recovery aspect of physical wellness, and that’s where massage stood out as a beacon. I went through massage school as well. Now I’m doing both of the things I love and I couldn’t be happier with where I’m at in my career
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m very passionate about fitness/the human body. I competed in the NPC organization in the men’s physique division. I try to make life easier for my clients by providing them with pain relief, and exercises to strengthen themselves for a more pain free life
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back in time I would most definitely had chosen my current path sooner. Because it is such a a rewarding field to be in.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than the skills learned in my practices. I’d say common sense and actually paying attention to your clients needs/goals is extremely important.
