Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yuhmontie Pittman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yuhmontie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
Customers are typically used to a traditional setup where as the photographer has a 1000 in 1 props with a expensive backdrop. Here At MontieStudios Photography we know how to get creative and turn a little into a lot. Customers who have never shot with us before are not used to a green screen being the background. We’ve had people weigh their options before booking with us and turns out alot of those folks are returning customers. During the Christmas season, a new customers who has never done photos for her or her child, gave us a chance to show her how efficient green screen Photography was. She was very nervous and questioned our prices, until after she seen the process for herself. Once she saw the before and after photos and compared them side by side, her opinion changed.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Ottawa Hills High School Graduate, started my own business in 2018 aside from attending Grand Rapids Community College. We provide Photography of all sorts as well as printouts and business card/flyer making. Most of the time clients I encountered have a hard time finding the right look they’re going for and does not belive a photo of such can be done, until they’ve come across MontieStudios Photography LLC. We provide the ability to make things happen you would not expect. One thing I’m proud of is finally narrowing color matching and photoshop down to the simplest of moves when editing. New tools make editing faster in color matching smoother without having all the extra steps for a clean, sharp shot.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
You have to be great to make it in this industry and a lot of people in your local city are the worse critics that will make or break you. It’s OK not To Be like Everyone Else, you have to create your own style. Whoever does support you locally will be at a lost, there’s a whole world out there, the crowd is bigger that just Grand Rapids.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Offering free sessions for different occasions. Most people are not use to the idea of having photos taken for free or being used as models. Clients often look for an inspirational photo of something they’ve been wanting to do for quite some time, once looking at your portfolio. After they’ve seen what you can do, that attracts them towards you more.
