We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yu Vitor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Yu, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project that I worked on was my first album in LA “(Keep Going With The Flow) which is I released it in last week. and the one short film I did a warrior role “INFANTRY”
those 2 project changed my thoughts and mind.
A lot of people asked me what kind of music you do ?
I think that was most common question that I heard since when I got here.
but I don’t like this question, I like all kind of music. I love make something. I don’t like to divide music by genre. I know it’s important and beauty as well, but for me “uhhh” to be honest at the beginning I started make a hiphop music, I was in genre too. but then I fell in love with “music”.
all kind of musics and Arts is wonderful thing.
in my new album I have all kind of genre and a lot of languages.
I think we call this “Diversity”. in these days.
a lot of people start categorize everything these days. but I think only one thing that we can’t categorize is art.
doesn’t matter where are you from, what kind of language you speak.
that’s why I think I continue doing my art’s.
And the deep messages inside the stories.
in these days, seems like people prefer don’t think too much, don’t touch too much to the what’s going on in the world and what’s happened in the past.
but this director of this amazing project was little different.
he picked up true story of from war time and zoomed up to the life of the 2 warriors. and try to send the message to the audience that we are all same human we were treat the humans like a robots for fight, they even doesn’t have a choice or time for anything, they were raised for just to protect the country.
in this film they realize who they are and before they were warriors they realize that they are both fathers.
this story really did hit me, and changed my mind.
those were the meaningful projects for me.

Yu, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am half Japanese and half Brazilian. I was born and raised in Japan, but I often visited Brazil to see my mother’s family’s .
That’s my background.
About my career
The first movie that I participated was in Japan, movie called “FAMILIA” made by “TOEI company” it was my first carrier in my life.
I was studying acting at my acting school then suddenly my teacher call me and gave me the opportunity for the audition. at the beginning I thought it’ll be small project or something but actually that was huge project. and I got the role.
I had a 17 years old. I was just finished my high school and I just started learning acting.
Actually this event also triggered me to decide to become an actor seriously.
but since when I was 7 years old I had decided to be an Hollywood action actor so when I got this role, I was already doing my martial arts and action stuffs around 7 years.
After when I’m done this project in Japan, I came to USA to chasing my dream.
and I have participated in many projects in here, and now I’m an Artist here living in my dream. thank god.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. I think my mission is to be a big star, and show for the world that race or where you are come from doesn’t matter.
a lot of people say “it’s impossible” “that’s impossible” but nothing impossible in this world.
I wanna prove if you have dream and keep go forward for it you can make come true.
I think that’s my mission.
and I want to believe in it as well.
I had a lot of my friends who gave up them dream because the society, so in my opinion we should change this wave and we have to change our mind and trust more in ourselves and do what we want.
I still on the way, but I will never give up. I want to support all artist.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
good question.
for me rewarding aspect of Acting is you can live a lot of life in just one life.
sometimes you can be a cop sometimes you can be warrior ……
we can understand a lot of aspect through the Acting.
I think it is a beauty of Acting.
Music and Martial Arts is more explore and share myself my feelings my thoughts with others and understand more about my self, about my feelings and bodies.
and that’s makes me understand the others. it help me to be more open as well.
