We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Young Gage. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Young below.
Alright, Young thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
In the beginning of your journey I feel like it’s natural to want those near and dear to you to support your endeavors and thus it becomes frustrating and discouraging when they don’t,but at some point you have to come to the realization that most times they won’t and that’s ok! The focus should not be on who you want or who is not supporting you but on those who do ..whoever they are

Young, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Recording Artist from Baton Rouge,La (Born and raised) I’m an visual artist and a fan of all things of creative expression…and I’m a Virgo lol
Music and art have always been a safe space for me to escape my sometimes harsh realities since I was very young it’s just something that’s always soothe me and allowed me to decompress and coming from a musically inclined family I was genetically predisposed to it so it’s only natural it would lead me on the path of being an artist/musician
As a child I was very reserved and introverted in social interactions but very observant so instead of being vocal in social spaces I would write my thoughts which turn to poetry then to full blown songs and when I could find the words to write I would draw original images or images that brought me comfort so by time I was in highschool is when I decided that a musician is something I would set out to be
With non stop pursuit and dedication I began to make a name for myself and have worked with the likes of Bone Thugs n Harmony,Mannie Fresh, Young Bleed, King Jamma and many more and I’ve shared the stage with the likes of Juvenile, Turk, Cassidy, Chingy, Choppa Styles, Baby Boy, Kevin Gates and even Comedians such as Toney Roberts
Being a fan of all genres of music my ability to write in many styles landed be being a Ghostwriter which gave me my first introduction in the music industry which I had to quickly learn how to navigate and with that knowledge and a keen sense of networking I was able to able that knowledge to my own career thus propelling me forward on my path

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve always been the black sheep in every since of the word and as a kid that would sometimes bother me but as I grew I looked at it less as a hinderance and more as a superpower which filled me with the confidence I needed to be myself and follow my dreams even when no one else could see my vision! being from the south Baton Rouge Louisiana in particular the musical scene and sound and my self never matched so I was seen as “going against the grain” but truthfully I was only just being myself but because I believed in myself so much instead of conforming to what was going on around me I opted out to just be myself and that mindset has brought me this far

Have you ever had to pivot?
I started my music endeavors being in a group and when it dismantled I attempted forming groups multiple times we no avail which forced me into a solo career handling all aspects by myself with the help of a few others which made me realize that it wasn’t a group that would get me where I need to be but a team ..a team of individuals who perform an individual task for the bigger goal
