We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Young Adub a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Young Adub, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Coming from the small town of Blue Ridge, Georgia, trying to be a hip hop artist itself would be considered a risk to many. No one has ever made a career out of being an artist from my hometown but I am defying the odds. I started my music career at 16 years old only three years ago when I was a sophomore in high school at Fannin County High School in Blue Ridge, GA and a lot of people from the city didn’t believe in me, but I always did. I always knew I would be at where I’m am today, even with all of the doubts surrounding me. I knew I would have hundred of thousands to even millions of followers. At first I couldn’t get any support in my hometown but now that my last song “Bring The Vibes” is starting to gain traction and has already gained over 1 million streams on SoundCloud I am starting to get support in my hometown. I don’t even live there anymore, I now live in Atlanta, but to know I took the risk of being an artist and tried to make a career when no one has ever done so I feel accomplished and excited to see what I can do next, because I know that if I can make it out of Blue Ridge, GA with a career in rap music, I can do anything!!!

Young Adub, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I came into the music industry as a young kid with big dreams. I was inspired by many of the greats like young thug, & Lil Wayne just to name a few. I started making music in 2019 at just 16 years old and quickly began to gain traction. I started making music out of my moms basement. I released some music on dsps and quickly started to gain traction. In 2019 I gained my first 20k followers on instagram and knew right then I had the potential to go far. I now have anlmost 500k follower (mind blowing) but Over the past few years I have been perfecting my craft. I have been attending Sae Institute in Atlanta, Georgia for audio engineering so I can perfect my sound even more and I am set to graduate December 2022. I haven’t been releasing much music, but that does not mean I have not been working. Fans should stay tuned for my best work to come here soon. I’ve recently partnered up with Royalty & Respect Management in Miami, Florida and we plan to roll out some major projects throughout the end of 2022 and plan to come into 2023 with a bang. Lots of music a long with visuals are on the way and I can’t wait to share all of this new work I have coming to all of my fans. They should be prepared for new music, content, merch, and tours very soon.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by investing in myself. Whether it be blogs, shoutouts, or reposts I made it happen and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t. A lot of people think talent is all you need to go viral and make a career out of music but that is far from true. You need to create a buzz around yourself and that’s not something that just comes to you easily or at least not in my case. You have to invest into yourself, and then invest again if you really want to make it in this industry and that’s something I would like to tell to every aspiring/upcoming artist in Atlanta!!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes! My goal is to put my hometown Blue Ridge, Georgia on the map for artists of all kinds. No one has ever came out of my city and made it globally known as a creative and I want to open this door up to my city. I want kids to think that they can make a career out of being a creative, something everyone told me I could not do and I want them to know that I am here to support them.
