We recently connected with Yoshimi Muranishi and have shared our conversation below.
Yoshimi, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I feel that risk is necessary to get something. I believe that taking a risk and succeeding is far more rewarding than not taking a risk and succeeding. What’s the point of taking risks? My friends and family used to say to me. I didn’t intend to take risks, but to be adventurous. So I wasn’t afraid, I was excited, and I enjoyed the change of scenery. If anyone is afraid of taking risks, I hope they don’t take it too seriously and just enjoy the adventure and change that comes with it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have not loved art since I was a child, nor was I good at drawing. If anything, I was not good at it. I remember when I learned nail art techniques at a Beauty school, I enjoyed drawing for the first time on a small canvas of nails instead of a large one. I like to think of nail designs that match makeup, fashion, and hairstyles. My favorite style of customer service is to give advice based on the client’s skin color and lifestyle, while also taking into account their opinions. Since I am also a licensed instructor, I like to train people who want to become nail artists. I am inspired again by the way she recalls her first love and works hard to pursue her dream.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience comes from traveling and just being away from where I am. I have a tendency to overthink things, both good and bad, so I need to distance myself from the position I’m in and reset.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When I was a student, I never studied art seriously. I would not say that I regret it, but I would have liked to have broadened my horizons and studied various genres of art. I still go to art museums and naturally show interest in things related to art, but I wonder what I would be doing now if I had had the opportunity to be more actively involved in art when I was a child.
